Colorfly C10 - Colorfly Is Back!

Hello peeps! I need good recommendations. Now that i have standalone DAP like the c10. What should i target next if i want to improve the overall sound quality? Besides the c10 i do have amazing budget earbuds emxs-500, ry4s and graphene mx760. These are low impedance earbuds so its easy to drive them. Would i benefit from getting a dac/amp? Or should i just go straight to an end game earbud? TIA for the inputs :)

I am running the ALO Rx from the line out of the line out from my C10 and it is fantastic. It's really meant for sensitive IEM's, but the improvement is a very refined sound with 0 noise in the open spaces within the song.

its ok to get higher impudence earphone..i think C10 has enough power for IEM with 150 ohm or above.
according to headfonic review the C10 doesn't match well with low impedance IEM, im not sure how low do they mean tho.

here is the review im talking about:

I read this already, i think the guy that reviewed the DAP even commented on my post in a particular headphone group in fb lol. I wonder if its only iem? What about earbuds lol. I'm using earbuds xD

all i can say is VE Monk plus sounds pretty good with C10:sunglasses:

I dont have the monks but all my earbuds sounds fantastic on my c10. Especially the emxs-500. You guys should try it hehe.

BTW, i tried again comparing the c10 with my RENO3. And i used a so so earbud, a 3-4$ earbud. And i was shocked that the difference is more noticeable especially the hissing. I guess my other buds sound so superb that i cant distinguish the big difference, and very detailed too compared to the so so earbuds that i used today for comparison

Just finished modifying windows drivers. Seems like it does its job! An old Asio driver (2.8.40) and now C10 CAN work as DAC. I will attach .zip folder later if someone interested.
(maybe with some instructions)

Oh, BTW congrats me! Now I am an official owner:)

Cheers!
Alright let’s start this schiiit:)

I am a Mac user, but I found my 6 year old little laptop-with windows OS. I’ll try to explain and attach some pictures for that;

In the end you’ll find attached files.

Mind you, that it works with WINDOWS 7, I dont know if it will work with Higher Windows versions

So let’s start! First, do a backup lol

And beware; this is not so easy:)

All you need to do is unpack zip files, find ..exe file and try to install it.

It will give you an error. Don’t worry.

Leave it now.

STEP ONE

Open device manager, make sure that on view tab- “show hidden files” is ON

STEP2

Find “sound, video and game controllers”

STEP3 (Very annoying lol)

And GET READY to fast click! Plug your C10
(but before make sure it’s on DAC USB mode-not data transfer or charging!),

windows will try to find and install driver for it; AT THIS MOMENT go fast and look for C10 in “Device manager” (PIC.2)

It will disappear very fast, I’m personally made it after 7 times trying to catch it

STEP4

When you made it (finally!!:jecklinsmile:), and opened-you’ll see little window (PIC.3 OR PIC.7) tap on “driver tab”- and tap on “update driver” button;

STEP4.2

then tap “browse my PC for driver...”

Then tap “let me pick from a...”

Then tap “show all devices”/ next...

Then you’ll see that (PIC.4)

tap “Have disk”

Tap “Browse” and navigate to your unzipped folder downloaded before :)

You’ll see .INF driver files (PIC.5)

PICK ONLY! “Pgusbwdm.inf”

Then, Install driver-it will show you two options to choose, try both - one by one. (I’m so shy but I don’t remember which exactly I picked first. So try both. having no harm)

STEP5
(additional): "Issues"
you could experience few issues on step3.
Or another issue that could happen(happened with me);

Let’s go back to STEP3 and take a look at the PiC3;
sometimes, plugging your C10 to another USB port on your laptop, or another Windows PC, will not show you “COLORFLY USB......” as in the picture two.
Instead it will show this; (PIC.6) “Audio device USB bus”.

if so, don’t worry, it acts the same, just shows you different name I think. You’ll need to do the same things as before, but MAKE sure that you did install .exe file from zip folder: this is "ASIO" stock driver for Windows, it needs to be installed like I mentioned before, just don’t worry if you already did this all, skip this step if you haven’t this "naming issue" and keep going through my FAQ.

If you already did, then let’s keep going;

STEP6

then tap “browse my PC for driver...”

Then tap “let me pick from a...”

Then tap “show all devices”/ next...

Then you’ll see that (PIC.7)

It’s ASIO drivers. Modified by audiophiles, and enthusiasts like me. It’s called ASIO4ALL.

Nevermind, install driver just like on pic.7

When you did, you should be fine(PIC.8)

STEP7

And finally!!!! Open “Volume mixer”(PIC.9);

Choose your device from mixer; (should be AudioDevice on USB BUS 2.8.40)

And you’ll done:)

Important;....

....is the only thing, it’s uncomfortable now;

Sometimes, from your headphones plugging to C10(as USB DAC) you’ll hear "BEEP-Beep" every 30/40seconds:frowning2: very annoying. I’m trying to figure out why is that. Maybe I need to try it with LINE OUT, didnt tested. update: I did. same results ;(

And another thing for you;

you should change your source input/output every time and with every program with what you’ll using your DAC. for example - I couldn’t use it with my iTunes.app - because there’s no such option directly in iTunes settings. But with Foobar (as example) - you have such options for that.

Short video how it works as a proof
I cannot upload it here-it's more than 100MB

P.S. Sorry for so stupid instructions-I'm busy at home right now, was using my iPhone for posting this FAQ like an idiot :frowning2: maybe I will update and correct them later a little

UPDATE info;
If someone wondering, what was done and changing: - almost nothing by me:)
the only thing changed is in this Pgusbwdm.inf file. I just added a few lines of data.

As this ASIO driver is the "universal thing"-it should work with everything that can do input/output sound and acting like USB type source, but the driver needs to know what's plugged-in!
If it still not written inside-then you need to write it by yourself into this .inf file.This is what I did-just added few lines here and there :) (Pic.10)

P.P.S. it should work with Colorlfy C200 too! Because I noticed that the Colorfly's developers putted in the C10’s driver data description guess what: hardware C200's name! not C10 as you can expect :)

So I suspect that
their unfinished firmwares of C200/C10, they both are identical talking about USB DAC function.
