I actually thought some headphones amplified the room noise because it seemed worse when they were on.

But what fun is socialising without the gear?

I think you're missing the point

Something like that would be perfect--with Effusion's suggestion to have people sign up for time slots and such. I just think it would be tremendously more satisfying. Anyone know of a high school old enough to have a music building? Maybe we could look into that for the future.

Hmm, I really didn't find the room noise level an issue. In fact until it was bought up here, I'd never even thought about it.

Anyhoo, thanks to Steve for organising, Larry for the lift to Les' place, and Les for the Yummy Pizza and Beer.

I'll add some impressions later, been hellishly busy since saturday, haven't even set my rig back up yet

Several of us donated some odds and ends for a not so silent auction that Ray officiated with the money going to the room and Head-fi. I won an old vintage Koss headphone tube amp and a great Berringer Rack Mount multi headphone amp that Craiglester donated as well. Great times !!!!! I had a chance to listen to the new little HeadDirect EF-2 that Larry had. So small and so smooth. I can't believe that Fang put together a Dac/ tube Amp combo with the same great Denon synergy as the EF-1 for over 100.00 less. I hope I didn't put anyone off when I said that the HD800's did not "WOW" me as much as expected, but there was so much state of the art equipment there that the 800's had alot of competition. I'm still trying to pry the camera out of my son's hands to get some pics up.( He's bugging me to let him put his Star Wars Clone Wars videos up on Youtube.but he's only 11 and I just can't monitor him as much as I want.)

Asr mentioned that we raised enough donations to pay for the meet facilities and still send an extra $89 to Head-Fi. He says thanks for all the donations, support, gear and a for coming to the meet and making it such a success.

That's a lot of photos of my rigs, Mr. Stalker.

Also, not one person commented yet on how good my PS Audio Digital Link III sounded via USB. I had only one optical cable with me and I was using that with my iMod > DLO Homedock HD > Apogee mini-DAC.

I know it's a bit unglamorous compared to other setups, but has anyone listened to the HD800's directly from the Apogee's headphone jack (or from the rear balanced-outs)? I'm thinking that the Mini-DAC's warmer 1/4" output may synergize well with the top Senns.

I was also blown away by RSA'a predator. Ray brought one over to my table just to show me how that tiny little thing could bring out the WOW in my modded Pioneer SE305's. I don't know how anybody can squeeze all that power into such a small package. Ray aslo had this little PC board hooked up that looked like a prototype of some sort. I got some PICs but did not Post the detailed ones as to not give away any trade secrets.
