the isolation seems kind of give and take for me being that, when I tested the um2s and er-4ps, they didn't isolate very well. I believe they are rated at 35 to 42 decibels, which is about half of my volume with a perfect seal. My initial impression was that buying them for isolation was out of the question because outer noises annoy the crap out of me and for 300 bucks it wasn't worth it. I assume that trying various tips result in lower levels of comfort for higher levels of isolation because the low-isolation tips that I tried with the md-33s were the most comfortable by far, though the westone comply tips were pretty good. I haven't read the rest of the thread, but if you do go this route be prepared to be buying and fiddling with tips for a while until you find what's right for you because most tips run in huge sets.

Have fun
