Hi everyone,

I'm looking to purchase a pair of closed headphones that are over ear.

They need to have decent isolation so they don't leak (the outside getting in isn't that much of an issue as it's going to be a quiet place).

They also need to portable, most likely folding for travelling, and with that, they also need to be durable.

Comfort is a huge need. The AD-700 is very comfortable for a standard with not too much clamping force.

Budget is $100, I definiely won't be stretching it any more than that.

It will be run either from a computer or a phone, so no difficult to drive headphones, and music preferences are just about everything (Top 40s stuff?).

At the moment, I don't think that I have many options. All I see are the Sony V6 and 7506, but even then, I'm not sure how their isolation stacks up, but I think that it meets all of the other criteria.

I apologise for being vague, but this will end up being a gift for someone.

Thanks

Those Sonys are also extremely durable headphones. So good choice in that regard, too. They are good all arounders and a good value for the money. I don't think you could go wrong with them.

How is the comfort and isolation?
Also, do you have any other recommendations?

I'm from Australia, so shipping is going to be a bummer :/

How is the UE600? It looks very promising, does it always require batteries?

Thanks

Found it within budget from a local store.

UE6000 vs the V6? How's the match up?

havent heard a V6 yet.. blush.

UE6000 is like a HM5 with more punch n body...and less echo-ey.
U will feel like u are on the dancefloor when a pop song is played.

I find the Sonys bright and I don't enjoy them.

I'm still looking for a portable I really like. I've gone through four in the past eight months. :frowning2: I'm still using a cheap pair of Sennheisers at work, simply because they don't offend me and are reasonably versatile.

I just bought Koss TBSE (same as ProDJ100) with M50 pads and am currently burning it in till Sunday so I'll tell you what I think afterward. Before burn in, I heard some ringing in the treble that I really hope will go away. If not, I'll send it back.

Get the Jaycar Pro Monitors. They are a steal for $100.

If that's another Fischer clone, I listened to the HM5 briefly and liked it and the isolation is great. It's a good choice if you don't need it to fold well.

I have the HM5 already. Need portability, so that's a no go.
UE6000 is confortable and doesn't leak sound?
How durable is it? It folds which makes me think that it can't be that great due to the hinges?

Maybe the HD280? They looks really odd, but they actually sound quite good IMO.

Yeah, they have a nice, inoffensive sound that is a little warm.

Some people seem to hate them, but I'm really not sure why. They seem quite nice to me.
