To my ears the Focal Spirit Classic sounds quite similar to the HD650. Certainly closer than the Momentum over-ear, the NAD HP50 and a lot closer than the AKG 550.
I am in the same boat. Have the HD650s and I love the sound. But the leak a bit too much for office use, So I am looking for something that sounds similar but doesnt leak as much which means closed.
Is there something in the sub $500 range that does that. What about the sennheiser 380 pros?
How do they compare to the beyer custom one? Are they real alternatives to the HD650s?
Or should I just stop looking and save up for some $500+ ones?
The beyerdynamic dt150 gets compared to the hd600s a lot on here:

Theres also the nad viso hp50

Try the DT-250 (250 Ohm version).
Is that the only difference between the DT150 and DT250? The resistance?
As much as I love my DT150, it's not a closed back HD650. The treble on the HD650 is smoother, and the overall sound is more forgiving to poorer recorded/mastered music. HD650 is also better in hiding sibilance.
HD650 has a unique sound signature that I haven't found in a closed back yet.
But maybe you can try a ZMF.
I guess finding a closed back 650 is a tall order, I will probably enjoy a different headphone more anyway. And I'll just have to settle for a different sound at work. Also it might make me apriciate the HD650s in a new way, Having listened to something else all day.
Would you say they are in the same category as far as overall sound quality goes though? In that case they are very good value it looks like.
