Hi im on a search  for a pair of headphones but i have yet not found any i like so far. I will use them 90% of the time for fps games so its very inportant that i can hear footsteps and so on.The other 10% i use it for music and mostly rock and metal.  They really need to be closed becuase i often go to lan parties like dreamhack and so on. Right now im using asus phoebus as soundcard with sennheiser pc 360.

I have been useing all headset before  this so my experience is not that good so right now im looking to buy a good pair of headphones and a standalone mic  or modmic which i have seen many use.

But i still want them to have good sound quality, good comfort and good isolation so i can wear them for long sessions. I can pay up to around $450.
I have look into DT770, Denon AHD2000 and akg k 550 but i dont know if they are really good for gaming and how the isolation is.

Could you guys give me any other recommendations or opinions on these? Would appreciate it.

Welcome to head-fi
Sorry for your wallet

For what you're saying: it would be better to buy a good 5.1 or 7.1 headset and a good pair of headphones separately. No headphone will give you a decent gaming performance and good sound quality, but for 200$ you could buy an excellent headset.

The thing is: this is not a gaming forum, and only a few could actually help you with your quest.

Differences are thin between the best headsets IMO once you reach the 200$ tag which is much less for what you intended to pay. Real gamers use wired headsets BTW. Pick the one you like the most once you do a proper search.

Is not that I don't want to help, but you mention 90% gaming: what's the point focusing on expensive headphones at that level? I assure you, there's no reason to do it.

Usually everyone here recommend this thread but I find gaming with regular headphones disappointing (I'm merely a casual gamer, the last game I played was Dishonored) you should have a look.

I have to disagree. Those 5.1 / 7.1 gaming headphones are gimmiky and crap usually, IMHO.

I have some DT770s pros and people say they're decent for gaming. I tried them and they were ok, maybe I didnt turn them up loud enough though. For Gaming I use Audio Techna AD700s, which are considered around here excellent gaming headphones. Very wide soundstage and good positioning. Problem is they are opened back and they do leak.

I can say that the Ultrasone Pro 900 are going tot be the best on that list so no need for Squrre to look at it
