Curious what most people use to clean the dust from their Stereo Components?

A. Rag or Towel (dry)
B. Rag with cleaning solvent (Windex, Fantastic, 409 etc...)
C. Compressed Air (as used for computer equipment)
D. Duster
E. Other

I tried compressed air but I found the dynamics of my amp and cdp were compressed for hours after use and use of solvents compromised low level detail for about 90 minutes until all the traces of liquid have evaporated

while dusting can smear the sound I find it's effects only last 10-15 minutes

I've found that if I use a cloth with warm water to clean the dust, it warms up the sound for a while. Interestingly, cold water has the opposite effect. As a result, I don't dust and have found that the dust coating gives a dampening effect not unlike the coatings modders put on the inside of cdp's.

I generally use a vacuum cleaner with a brush. The suction is minimal, but works wonders over the vents in my players. I don't open the casing, so regular cleaning should, theoretically anyway, minimize loose dust before it settles.

Works great on my speaker screens too.

I find a Paint Brush does a pretty good job followed by a slightly damp cloth or one of the brushes which attracts dust.

I like to use a cheap paint brush from Home Depot. Works great. For more entrenched dust, cut down the bristles to 3/4" or so.

I find dusting to have no effect on the sound. I do it just to keep the gear clean.

I hold my gear out the window of my car while driving down the highway. Seems to clean it out pretty good

I use the compressor at my work, I just have to be careful, since it's a bit too powerful for electronics

For the exterior I usually just wipe with a micro-fibre cloth. (great for tft screens too)
