That said, this is a very powerful piece IMO.

I prefer soft and gentle sounding.
My most favorite modern classical tune is Pärt's Spiegel im Spiegel.

Try the disc of his 3rd symphony that includes his orch. arrangement of Musso's Songs and Dances of Death. Great disc, not the least b/c Salminen is the bass you get.

I am amazed at the Norgard music, especially Symphony no.1.

I am a big fan of Ligeti. I have listen to to the Sony recordings countless times. He and Bartok have to be my favorite 20th century classical composers. I must have been Hungarian in a previous life.
