I suppose I will do a bunch of critical listening today, but now I’m going to be paranoid that there’s been damage done.

I live in Georgia, which is where Empire Ears is. Maybe I can have them checked out.
In my experience with damaged voice coils, they will tend to show up with intense low bass. Like @Daniel Johnston said, it isn’t subtle and will sound like buzzing or static that increases with the volume of the music and is usually just in one side. It is not the same as what is happening with no signal, even tho that’s just on one side too. It’s literally a mechanical rattling where the voice coil is torn fully or partially from the cone, so you hear it when they rub or rattle together. On the last broken voice coil I had, I could reproduce it easily on “Ocean Eyes” by Billie Eilish. I also agree that this sound like an issue where you need to send the Mojo in, but unless you had a massively loud blast from it, it is unlikely it hurt your voice coils. That usually comes from a massive overload or a manufacturing issue in the coil. I know that feeling that you might start to always wonder if your IEM is busted, but if you don’t hear clear buzzing with intense bass, it’s not that, and you don’t need to think about it any more :)

I think @MarkParity was just trying to warn you for the future that this could be an early warning of a future blowout, not saying that what is happening now would have caused this. Low buzzing shouldn’t hurt a voice coil AFAIK. It has to be a big force to tear the glue between the cone and coil or just rip the cone…

I just wanted to provide an update here as to the solution for my buzzing problem.

Turns out the problem was a faulty USB cable. Two of them! I had tried a second cable and had the same problem - so I assumed that the problem wasn't with the cable but somewhere else. I had even set up a repair with the US dealer.

After growing frustrated and not being able to listen to my Odins, I tried a simple Apple USB C -> C cable. Problem solved! No more buzzing. There is a very minor noise floor, as you'd expect with IEMs as sensitive as the Odins, but I'm very happy. And I've thrown the other cables out.

Thank you very much for writing all that up. Voice coil damage is not something that I've ever thought about, let alone experienced. You've definitely put me at ease and given that I solved the Mojo 2 problem with a 3rd cable swap, I think my Odins are probably just fine.

Happy to hear it! Hope you’re continuing to enjoy the music!!

Hello all, I am new to the forum and have a question about the Mojo 2. I am considering to buy a used one for travel but also as a desktop DAC to different amplifiers. Do both 3.5 outputs serve as pre-outs? If so, if they are both used at the same time is the output lessened or halved in output (voltage, I suppose)? Forgive me if the questions is easily answered already but there are 800+ pages and a search did not bring anything helpful up. Thank you in advance if anyone cares to answer.

The outputs are designed so that they always output the same, regardless of one or both being run. The output isn’t lessened by running both simultaneously.
So, you can use Mojo2 to serve two different amplifiers at the sane time. If you want an exact 2V or 3V there’s a table in this thread detailing what the output voltage is for each colour. There’s no “line out” function per se. Rather, adjust the Mojo2 volume that gives you the best place on your amplifier’s volume control.
Enjoy!

Thank you. Much appreciated. So if I understand correctly, if I want to be in the range of a typical DAC, the Violet-Ultra Violet will range 2.38-4.23. Amazing that little box outputs over 4 volts!

I thank you for sharing what would have taken me some digging.
Yup. I run my Mojo 2 into two different amps (and disconnect it for portable use with IEMs). For my solid state, I use the 4V output setting, and for my tubes, I use the 2V setting. Easy enough to experiment for yourself once you have it set up. It's an impressively versatile and capable device.

Thank you for the confirmation. I was fortunate to just pick one up from the classifies so next week I will be able to try it out myself. It's very generous all of the input from members here. Thank you.

Did anyone have a chance to compare Mojo 2 sound quality to Diablo 2?
Is Diablo 2 even an upgrade or just a sidegrade for driving 50-60 ohm planars?

Hey everyone, I’m a newbie here and I recently got myself the Mojo 2 with Utopia. I have a few observations and questions from experienced users.

First, the USB-C plug seems a bit tight. I have to insert the cable very carefully and at an angle. Is this normal?

Secondly, I’m also curious if anyone has used these with Poly to connect in a car. I have an upgraded Burmeister on Cayenne and I’d like to try the Mojo 2 with Poly, either directly with Qobuz or via Roon Arc. Alternatively, is there a way to connect the Mojo 2 directly to car audio, perhaps using a headphone to USB-C cable?

Congrats on the Mojo! Inserting a USB-C on my unit works pretty much as expected. It’s a snug fit but not unusually tight and goes straight in without having to tilt it at an angle. This is what the port looks like on mine if it helps.

I’ve not tried using Poly in a car so others would have to chime in on this.
