Despite the "LPS" lettering on the back, it is not a Linear Power Supply. this one is an SMPS (switched mode power supply).
But fret not! SMPS are better than LPS.
To do the ultimate, buy a battery from ebay or aliexpress, take out everything you have done, and use it in factory mode.
Thanks kenta,

Yes lesson learned don’t buy modded dacs, secondly, don’t f around with stuff you don’t know about lol. I was literally copy pasting off YouTube. Tbh this power supply did reduce the noise significantly. I don’t think going back to factory is an option as the first genius I think shorted something in the micro usb port so I believe charging from there won’t be an option anymore. Going to go back to original caps and this power supply and praying still salvageable. Love the sound of this and I’ve had a chord tt before and can certainly live with this one. Appreciate the input

Too generalized IMHO. So many crappy SMPS and so many "just okay" LPS out there

Check on Mojo Mods. page. you can still run it off external rechargeable batteries, someone has put a post up there, doing the same.

Yes, perhaps.
However, on average, SMPS for audio devices are less likely to cause issues than an average LPS. It has to be a mighty good (spelt expensive) LPS to match a decent (spelt cheap) SMPS.
Hence, my generalization.

Hi all. Had a friend of mine do this mod for after purchasing this dac that was connected to a 7.5v power supply. Immediately noticed noise and this thing sounds horrible and had noise so I purchased this 7.5v linear power supply and seemed to have reduced the noise to a level that made the mojo a great desk top dac. So I decided to try and improve and came across upgrading the capacitors. Which I had a friend of mine do, and we relocated the charging port to the opposite side as the previous person who did the mod had the cables running through the micro charging port. Long story short I now have a worse noise with the bigger caps, and not sure what I am missing or what needs to happen to eliminate this noise? Any help or recommendations much appreciated. Thanks much
What's the purpose of replacing the capacitor?

Was literally just blind following a YouTuber that did it said replacing with larger caps improves sound… I cannot concur. I guess I get what I deserve🙃
I get you. I have a friend of mine who also advised me to change the cap. It's the thing that makes the Mojo sounds warm and having small stage.
I think the problem with you if that your power supply sucks. That's it.

Honesty with the larger caps
Installed and ignored the crackles and pops I’m getting now I cannot hear a difference to the originals. At least I could not.

Re-attached the battery. Still have popping and crackles coming in. Gotta be the bigger caps drawing more current?
Capacitors don't draw current.
If you have pops and crackles, change your USB cable. Try another computer or a phone. if you still have issues, the device is faulty.

Purpose was to try and achieve a desktop modded dac for cheap that sounds closer to the higher line chord products. I’m not a headphone user (Apple AirPods are just fine) so was never intended to be used for mobility.
Then get yourself the Mojo 2, and done. ^^

Seriously.
Modded devices will bring the sound the modder thinks it sounds good. (mostly)
Even when the output becomes worst.

Beauty lies in the ears of the listener. :)
Which replicates the whole sense of audiophiles/ audiophonics.
