Yeah kinda like other companies announcing an event and marketing it as the next big thing only to triumphantly confirm officially that something is, indeed, on the way.
Only a few weeks ago, Chord were not planning to attend CES https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cho...fficial-thread.831345/page-1156#post-15270536
Having said that, the message a few days ago was that there will be a parade of products next year, but no indication what they will be, so keep your fingers crossed, and your wishes could be granted.
If I had paid anything approaching RRP for my recently acquired ex-demo Hugo 2, I would be rather upset by the prospect of a possible replacement. As it is, now I have acquired the correct suite of cables/dongles for Apple products, the Hugo 2 does everything I need of it. I think its best feature may be the X-PHD, which produces close to a binaural effect, taking the orchestra out of your brain to into the world. The ex-demo one I bought from Canterbury Audio was indistinguishable from new, including the packaging.
interesting you should mention the 'packaging', the card used in the packaging has been reinforced with carbon-fibre so it keeps a showroom lustre. It's the little unnoticed touches that keeps Chord ahead of the competition... a box is for life & not just Christmas!
