Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

It’s always the same people.

I had an unhelpful “do a search” experience on Mojo thread. And in my case though it turned out the information I was seeking didn’t previously exist...
The answer to 80% of newby questions are easily accessible by a quick search. That is a fact. Apart from this we of course have to welcome new members, but not people who just want to take from the community without making the very slightest effort to find their basic answers at first.

Otherwise a thread becomes overly repetitive and that is very unhelpful to new members who actually take the effort to search and read through.

Or you know, instead of writing defenses of behavior that is is questionable at best you could just help folks out by answering them, like i did earlier in the thread. Please go back and read before making a comment ! Did you read that ? Heheh. Just a little humor.

The entire point of forums is to ask folks in the know in order to engage with people in the hobby. Having some weird rules about forcing them to do their own searching is not really the right attitude IMO.

There's lots of folks who spend way too much time "hanging out" here talking about totally extraneous stuff and it's bit much when they also say no new folks can just jump in a thread and ask a question.

The truth is somewhere between our attitudes I guess.
You also didn't read my comments about a forum becoming repetitive due to basic questions which is not good for anyone.

I did read them. Please point to a forum on head-fi where too many questions are being asked and answered which is ruining the thread. I'll wait....

Much more likely threads are being ruined by bickering like this.
Most of the threads contain 70-80% bulk and irrelevant information, while 20-30% of the comments are actually interesting and useful.
For this reason I quit this debate now.

Maybe you guys should start a thread about what's appropriate to discuss in a thread.

I think it is good as it is, yes have read all the posts on this thread, I am aware that after almost 1200 posts and also numerous others, (don't ask me to remember them all, my retention is not that impressive....) this one I follow if not daily but a few time a week to keep updated. I Have no issue assisting a "newbie" if he is reluctant to start reading the thread from scratch and to eager to get feedback instantly to solve an issue than to search and read etc...search function on this forum is not the best and sometimes difficult to find what you are exactly looking for, some repeating is to be expected on a longlasting thread like this and the ones of us who have the experience should be humble enough to share our experience and feedback

We are at least most of us in here because we share a common interest in music (and cool gear that supersedes yesterdays bests) and its reproduction and love to listen to headphones critically and with musical enjoyment as our common quest for musical Nirvana (and quad ESL2905...my big monolith headphones ....or something....:)

I am glad the thread has started to become more active and invigorating lately, maybe the 2Go "to be or not to be" question...has fueled and I for sure welcome it when and if it does materialize, in the meantime would be of interest best economical and/or no money no object partnering equipment everyone is using around the CH2 such as what streamers used in desktop and HIFI setup, and or the portabel travel setup beeing used?

Aware I am bit warm and Christmas spirit fussy above and probably the homemade Glögg kicking in but I thing this thread has a good thing going so let's keep it that way.

Speaking as a newbie, I find these incredibly long threats daunting. I don't read all the posts. Instead I search within the thread before asking a question. If a newbie were being lazy, that's all he would need to do. It's more effort to post a question.

To expect people to read the whole thread seems, to me at least, a way keeping things too clubby.

What's being protected by over-zealous policing? 90 percent of what's in this thread is pure junk. Have you read the first couple of pages in THIS thread?? Who gets to police this? The ones who read every post, or been on the thread the longest?

Hi Newbie, agree with you no one is forcing anyone to read all the posts I Did, but over time and yes most is social talk until something new comes up on the horizon, dont be bothered with others complaining just because it was mentioned on post 234and we are now close to 17650.... Just keep asking and someone will assist.

the 12 days of hugo2 in the making on chords facebook looks like a primer for the 2go release IMHO.

Yup. I can totally see what the day 12 post will be about- especially within the whole manufacturing context.

Really well thought out if so!

Day 13 (unlucky for some) will be I bought 2Go for £2000 and I can't get it to work, it keeps crashing etc. etc.

I hope not but, well, lets just wait and see.

I am not too worried about that knowing how far Poly has come. It took a while, sure, but the thing is now rock solid be it on the go or my home/work WiFi.

I am sure that 2Go’s GoFigure will be an enhanced version of Poly’s, which has finally come of age.

So the signs are good I’d say..even though I’m out if it costs anywhere close to 2k..
