Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

Any more discussion of 2Go release?

Yes @ChordElectronics, please can we have an update. Some statement of intent at least - are you going to launch a 2Go module for Hugo 2 at some point? It’s been too long since releasing those prototype photos at CES 2018 not to have provided updates on progress. Many have bought the Hugo 2 on the basis that they would at some point have a 2Go module to use with it, a not unreasonable expectation given your release of those photos. I was personally disappointed not see any evidence of 2Go (even a pre-production prototype) at CanJam London recently and to find all Chord staff there barred from talking about it.

I think its safe to assume that if Chord staff were barred from talking about it last week then there is a reason for this stance and there will be no news this week.

I do hope for the sake of all those waiting for news some will be forthcoming soon though. Come on Chord you have kept these people waiting too long already.

Not surprising that Chord staff can say nothing.
  • the feedback at canjam London was that Rob Watts was saying imminent
  • On the Chord threads Matt was saying that he would be disappointed if not 2019
  • The chinese whispers for several months have been september
All I can suggest is chill - august is holiday period for both chord and distributors.
If we hear nothing positive during September, then raise the question again.

Reasonable. From my reading of Frederick Forsyth novels, I gather that nothing much gets done in August, in Britain, or maybe Western Europe for that matter. So, I'll wait 'till October before raising the question again.

Hugo 2 / mscaler are singing tonight and I'm feeling grateful for the advice / suggestions and opinions in this forum.

Thanks to everyone for your shared experiences and especially @ray-dude (numerous chats and experience sharing) and @musickid (specifically for the initial optical source recommendation leading to lots of experiments in reducing / separation of RFI).

Certainly in Southern Europe, it is too hot inland during August, so firms shut down for a couple of weeks, and many people head for the coasts, where it is cooler.
This means most customers are on holiday and not buying, so dealers will shut as well or put on online sales, in order to try and generate some cashflow. No point in Chord releasing 2Go during August.

There have been chinese whispers about release dates for 18 months, and they have all proved wrong - but if we are still waiting for news in October, then there won't be much time left to release the 2Go, and get stock to dealers ready for sale pre-Christmas.
Fingers crossed everyone.

Better stop there, or someone will complain that it is OT.

Yes. It is similar to someone finishing reading a book, and enjoying it so much that they wished there were additional chapters.
The author should be happy.
Especially with H2. I for one, can't wait to be able to take my H2 with me, without feeding it with an external DAP. Hell, I might even get a smartphone with a voice control app, just to run it.

It’s been desktop for me almost exclusively since it was released.

The idea of a 1 TB sd card of hi-res is very appealing.

I’ve been holding off buying a DAP because of the 2Go—-H2 is that good.

I start travel soon...I was hoping for Spring announcement.

I just received my Hugo 2 today and am loving it so far, but there's one weird quirk with it that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced.

The bluetooth connection out of anything other than my iPhone XS sounds great, just as you'd expect. For some reason when it's connected to my iPhone through bluetooth it sounds terrible; it's like a 5 year old bluetooth headphone with insane compression, weird artifacts, and other signal degradation. It's not like that's the end of the world, I can always use it with bluetooth on my laptop, but I was kind of looking forward to being able to use it with my phone.
