It's the best transportable DAC/amp Chord makes. It has many competitors.
I'd refine your question to help us figure out what you're looking for. Would I recommend you buy the Hugo 2 in 2020 given it is an older product (by rapidly changing technology standards)? Absolutely. Since it is designed around a custom programmed FGPA and not the latest and greatest DS chip, it doesn't fit the latest flavor of the month DAC/Amp club.

Is there anything with a similar form factor that would be considered better than the hugo? I am just looking for something for CIEMs that i can plug in and have a high quality dac / amp. Since its IEMs I don't think I need a ton of power.

i’m not really an IEM person. I do have the shure ks1200 and dita truth iems. Both sound great from the H2.
From what I understand, iFi uses FGPA as well. You could consider them as competition.
I’ll leave others to comment on the hundreds of DS DACs out there. Happy Hunting.
I don't know of any that beat it in terms of sound quality. The question is, how transportable is it really? Are you happy to carry one around on your walks/commutes? You can get pretty good sound out of a phone these days if you have easy to drive cans and don't listen and very high levels...
I suspect many Hugo2 owners use it as a desktop DAC and don't take it out very much.

Well, I don't 'take is out' at all. But I do carry it to other locations. I think 'transportable' is pretty accurate. With the Hugo2go combo, I have a very high quality system which I can use with all my cans to bring music anywhere. But it's not a DAP -- you're not going to take it with you on a run or bike ride or ski day or ... basically anything very active. I mostly carry it with me and set it down next to me to listen while doing some other activity. I do put it into my cargo pockets on my shorts while moving around to do house-work, but honestly, that's probably 'new toy' behavior -- I'll probably go back to a DAP for that.
My situation is similar to @LCMusicLover. I don't really take it out of the house, but I love having it with the 2Go so I can wander around the house. Fits nicely in the back pocket of my jeans, leaving the volume control in easy reach. I do use it as a desktop DAC (to LS50s) at times when I'm working at home. Just wish the 2Go played nicer with my mesh network, but that's for a different thread...
Can anyone help me locate a dual bnc to coax cable/adaptor/setup so i can connect my mscaler to my Hugo 2 and get the full benefit? I'm in the UK. The only one I have found is through audio concierge at a cost of £200 which seems very expensive.

Anyone can explain to me how well will Hugo 2 to be a desktop DAC? I am mainly worried about the battery. Can I keep the power supply always on and let the Hugo 2 to use the power supply instead of the internal battery?

A few days ago, I decided to join the audiophile world and have purchased a brand new HD800s with a 10% discount. Now, I'm now looking to purchase an amp/DAC.
I'm currently deciding between the Chord Hugo 2 and RME ADI-2 DAC. I noticed that the Hugo 2 provides a Bluetooth aptX connection. My question is whether I can connect this to my 65 inch LG OLED CX tv via Bluetooth? According to LG, this tv is equipped with aptX Bluetooth. Apparently, the Hugo 2 requires a pair code? Will I be able to enter the pair code on the tv?

Pair code is ‘0000’. I’ve paired my Hiby R6 Pro to H2 via Bluetooth w/ no problems. However, there’s no volume ‘communication’ between the devices. By that I mean that, when listening on my powered speaker via Bluetooth, changing volume on the speaker changes volume on the player (or phone) I’m driving it with. With the Hiby ==> H2 setup, the volumes are independent. My approach is to set Hiby volume to 80/100, then turn H2 up to the point where volume is ‘as high as I would ever listen’ and the adjust down (or up for quiet tracks) on the Hiby.

I've had no issues connecting it to a receiver with a bluetooth transmitter plugged into the 1/4" headphone port. Code for the Hugo is: 0000 if needed.
