Chord Electronics - CES Launch Extravaganza

Here are my 3 guesses:

1) An FPGA-based device to instantaneously bring about world-peace

2) An attachment for Mojo that controls local weather conditions, so I can enjoy my music without being rained on.

3) An attachment for Mojo that projects a convincing 3D hologram of the artist being listened to.

Not too much to ask for, I'm sure you'll agree.

You are the man in the know.

I would have guessed:
  1. Mojo SD module
  2. Blu 2 http://www.head-fi.org/t/766517/chord-electronics-dave/5475#post_12975684
  3. and maybe your 3D hologram

Shows just how far away I was

This thread is helping me not spend money on any after Christmas sales on various electronics. Saving my money.

I'm probably dreaming but I hoping to see a FPGA device size of USB stick powered by USB. 1/4 or even 1/3 the processing power of mojo. But still would have scores more processing power for than anything else in that market segment and only $300.

Hm I think @Mython is correct pointing out, that there will be announcements not related to Mojo.

The Mojo Add On is a given.
The question is what functions it will have.
This is me just speculating that other releases are possibly the new high end CD transport and maybe a pumped up TTOBY... I can't imagine Chord going into speakers... would be great though

Anyway we'll find out, soon.

Well since @Mython says that there is going to be something for everyone:

  1. The SD supermodule is for Mojo users
  2. The Blu 2 is for DAVE owners
  3. The TTOBY was announced months ago, and will shortly be reviewed in HiFiNews - so TT owners are already covered
  4. Chord and KEF often display together at hifi shows. So why not a set of active speakers, using  Chord DACs. - that would cover the Hugo users.

Soon be only 10 days to wait

But If the reveal is January 5th......when is the actual release date? Not that I can afford anything by Ramen at this point

Somewhere I have seen the statement that the new gear will be available straight after the announcements.
Sadly i cannot find where I read it - it wasn't on this thread, which would have been a likely candidate http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f8-general-forum/big-announcements-coming-chord-electronics-30514/

John Franks posted a few weeks ago, that those who had received advance information, were already placing orders for the SD module. I took that to mean that the module would be available from dealers, very soon after the announcements at CES.
But as for the two other items to be announced - nothing has been revealed.

I never quite understood this reply from Mojo Ideas. Was it confirmation of Hugo successor?

Here speaks a wise man!

No, it wasn't confirmation.

It was simply saying that whenever a successor to Hugo eventually arrives, it will be a worthy purchase for anyone who has had the patience to wait for it.

The purpose of this thread is for people to guess what they think the 3 Chord Electronics announcements at CES might be - not for people to expect Chord Electronics to just tell them what they are going to announce at CES before they announce it at CES

I would be happy if Chord will announce new standalone table DAC, with XLR outputs and classic power connector (built in power supply), as only Hugo TT and DAVE have XLR output and only DAVE is powered by classic power cord, which can be upgraded by custom one.

It's probably an update to the Mojo called Mojo 2 with the same number of taps as the Hugo for $599.  And the updated Hugo with 4X the taps for the same price as the current Hugo.  They are now using the newer chip with 4X the cpu power and half the wattage requirements.  Maybe the Mojo 2 will also have a switch to go from warm to neutral for wider headphone compatibility and increase user base.
