Ok I'm not very familiar with SD card playback but have just purchased one and downloaded some tracks onto it and the trial of Glider.

Sorry if this is a disc question but when open glider I'm selecting tracks from the SD card fine but I see 2 Polys to connect to. One has my iPhone as the icon and one has the Poly icon but both are named as my Poly. Why are there 2 and what's the difference? Thanks

If you are playing a RBCD file, there won't be a difference. One is AirPlay (phone icon) and the other is MPD. If you are playing a hi-res file, you should definitely use the one with the Poly icon.

Poly dropouts resolved: Mesh Compatibility problems

My poly had dropouts and disconnects from Roon in roon mode as well as the related 'tidal track no longer available' message. Roon and Tidal were unusable for me. Upnp players also had drop out and lost connection problems.

I have discovered, at least in my case, that poly doesn't like my mesh wifi routers. I have a Ubiquity Amplifi network. I plugged in a 10 year old apple airport, created a new 2.4 network for poly, put it in bridge mode, and when I connected poly to the new Apple network all dropouts were gone. Works perfectly with roon in roon mode.

Hope this helps. If you have a mesh wifi network, and have disconnection and dropout problems, try reconnecting your old non mesh router in bridge mode and see if it helps.

Finally happy.

Chord. Please prioritize fixing the 'default dns' configuration in your access point mode as described in the wiki. Let us Android users use our phones on the internet while connected to poly access point. The iPhone 'hybrid fix' doesn't work on Android phones. I have to take my old iPod touch along to keep my phone internet and still use poly when outside. Using my Phone's Hotspot kills its battery in 1.5 hours. No way. That's just a configuration change on your part!

I also have problems with connecting to my ordinary 2.4 Ghz through Asus RT-AC68U router. My solution eventally was to create a Poly profile on the guest network. Router on latest FW. But still random clipping and strange behaviour (volume etc) BTW new to this group and would appreciate thoughts on router settings to get the most optimised solution with Poly device.

I’m glad you asked that. In Glider, like you, I also see an iPhone icon labelled Poly as well as a Poly icon which is also labelled Poly. From my iPhone Airplay selector, I also have a speaker icon labelled Poly - a veritable poly of Poly’s! I chose the Poly shaped icon in Glider, but I did find it slightly confusing at first. If you choose the iPhone icon named Poly in Glider, I think that the iPhone reads from the SD and sends via Airplay to the speaker icon also labelled Poly - you can choose other speaker icons for Airplay devices that may be available on your network.

I am assuming that selecting the Poly shaped Poly icon in Glider means that Poly will read directly from the SD card and play directly into Mojo and, if so, that should give the best sound quality as well as not drain the iPhone battery as much - although you do seem to need to keep the phone connected or the playlist stops at some point. I’m not sure why, are the full set of play instructions not sent as a single command but on demand?

So a problem I've had every time I've tried it on my Poly (latest firmware, and it's a replacement unit from Chord): I want to switch from Roon Mode to 'other' so I can airplay Spotify from my laptop. I go into access mode, switch to 'other', click 'reboot on save', save, and... nothing. The poly doesn't seem to reboot. No light. I take it out the case, separate it from Mojo, plug it back in, and it reboots instantly.

(this situation is what predicated my – unanswered – question about why Poly has to reboot when it goes into Roon Mode, whilst no other Roon endpoint I have (primarily referring to Bluesound) has to)

If Poly is using a form of Linux (or similar) it is likely using services to interface with the various music servers (mpd, dlna etc). The config process would result in services being started/stopped based on the options selected. Let's imagine that their are 5 services and in any setup you need 3 of them on and 2 off - it should be possible to stop any not needed and start those which are without a reboot. I would use the reboot when I was checking any starup condition changes such as making Poly hotspot always on.

After a quick glance at the original manual I did not see a note saying to reboot for Roon mode - is this a suggested tip from this place?

PS I'm not a roon user but am interested in the answer from a technical point of view.

Ooh. Oh. Ooh. You might well be my new favourite person. Wouldn't have picked it up from here – either a misunderstanding or an assumption on my part. I'll give it a try later!

I'm assuming that with the GoFigure app the desired mode would be selectable within the app, without any need to reboot manually... if at all rebooting was necessary.

Ah, going through the process, I'm reminded of why I need to reboot: to get the Poly back out of access mode.

So I wonder whether, with the GoFigure app, this'll be an insta-switch, or something that necessitates a reboot?

I have no issues and no drop outs with my Asus RT-AC68U router. In my WAN settings I have UPnP, NAT and WAN enabled, QOS disabled in the Adaptive QOS settings.

Edit: wanted to add that I have both 2.4 and 5GHz bands set up and that the MojoPoly automatically connects to the 2.4GHz band. I have the RT-AC58 in the master bedroom and my MojoPoly roams between both routers while staying connected.
I do notice a small click when switching routers but no drops outs nor glitches.

Here's the short answer: There are in fact only two different outputs available on the Poly: DLNA/MPD (Poly icon) and AirPlay (iPhone and speaker icon are the same output). I can't think of any good reason to use the AirPlay variant while listening to music in Glider.

Now let me explain what's going on here. Apple is very restrictive when it comes to choosing between AirPlay, Bluetooth or connected USB devices, so developers are forced to show the system wide output selector. This is why the '... More Devices' option exists at the bottom of the Glider output selector. Glider tries to be smart about this by letting you jump back to the currently selected iOS output without invoking the system output selector, but this obviously leads to some confusion when the currently selected iOS AirPlay output is the Poly (which was most likely selected from another app like Tidal before launching Glider). When this output is shown in the Glider output selector, the icon is always shown as an iPhone since we don't have access to the icons used in the iOS selector.

This has caused enough confusion that we're going to rethink how this works.

I can confirm it is an instant switch and no reboot is necessary.

MP3 works ok for us here but yes DSD (DSF) will be resolved in a later update. If you are using Glider then Joe has a work around for DSD.
Thanks @Matt Bartlett . I'm an Android user so no Glider for me. Using M.A.L.P mp3s as well as dsfs are not catalogued. i've been in touch with the developers who say it's at your end.
