Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

Thanks for the responses to my question yesterday. I have just a few more of that's ok?

For starters, those that had or have the m40x, how do the MDH9000 clones compare?

Also, would there be any other HPs you would recommend under $50usd (100?) that are closed-back with a removable cord?

I don't EQ and I know others who don't.
Me either and the only amp I have is a Little Bear B4-X. iFi Micro BL for desktop DAC and Sony ZX300/ES100 for portable.
To each their own and I respect that. That statement may have been overly generalized based on my personal experience and associates. Sometimes, I like using a certain headphone, but may be in the mood for a different sound signature, so a headphone that responds well to EQ is necessary for me.

To HifiMan- I don't EQ or amp...usually I just listen using my PC's audio card or my phone.
Unless you're serial returner (Amazon.com), you can always order both and see which one you like better. You can also tinker around and change earpads for different sound signatures.

I own three different pairs of high quality headphones.
A MDH9000 clone, a Bosshifi B8, and two JVC HA-S680's.
Stock, the MDH9000 is the most comfortable and has the most bass.
With sheepskin pads, they are even more comfy.
The JVC HA-S680's have almost as much bass, though the stock earpads are atrocious.
I'm going to eventually get sheepskin pads for the S680's.
The Bosshifi B8 have a little less bass, and the earpads are not that great compared to the MDH9000 clone's stock earpads.
Also, I don't think you can get sheepskin pads for the B8, so they are my least favorite.
As you can tell, I mostly care about bass and comfort.
(All of my headphones that I have mentioned have pretty great sound quality.)
Also, all these headphones fit my ginormous head, which is something I look for.
I recommend either the MDH9000 clones or the S680's.
If you don't want to buy earpads, the MDH9000 clones are best.

EDIT: I just noticed you're in Brazil.
I don't know if you can get S680's at a reasonable price there.
I got mine from Japan through Amazon.com

That just sounds...really weird! LOL! Maybe not if you're a chemist, but for the layman...weird! :L3000:

Anyone have any experience with these and using the mic for calls/gaming? Wireless and looks compelling for 40 bucks (as in dollars, not a male sheep).
https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Headphones-OneOdio-Wireless-Neodymium/dp/B07CQKSB6W/
Didn't test the mic very long, but it was definitely sufficient in a phone call I made with it.

I would honestly rather listen to Oneodios than MDH9K, they are at least somewhat more balanced sounding overall. With 9K there was no balance, it was just bass to your face and everything else was left behind. In lower volumes sound was almost bass only and unlistenable when cranked up because bass was too overbearing and often even started to distort. My pair was also half-broken right out of the box, fortunately i received most of my money back from AE and already threw them away...
Me too. Especially the wireless Oneodio sounds more balanced than MDH9000, which is indeed *only* a bass mud on lower volumes.

buy oneaudio a2 wireless at anniversary sale came with unbalance sounds. left have bass and right no bass at all. qc problem?
Definitely.

Can someone give a detailed comparison between the MDH9000 and the Bosshifi B8?

I'm set out to buy a new set of closed cans, i've been reading this thread for a few days and i'm deciding between these two. If anyone has any suggestions at the same price, i'm all ears :)
The Bosshifi has way more emphasis on the higher mids and highs, which sparkle more but can also sound a little piercing. The sound is quite balanced and has a good soundstage, however I find it a bit tiring to listen to due to the sometimes occurring piercing. The MDH9000 is a totally different, bass embracing, beast.

I also the B8 fatiguing. Also I tried to put more comfortable pads on it... Brainwavz... but it ruined the sound. The MDH9000 (mine is the Neewer NW-9000 bought on Amazon UK) is much more comfortable and enjoyable for me. Mine is not muddy but I have burned it in and have a good source. Definitely more bass than some of my others.

Luckily I can enjoy various sound signatures.

Most high-end stuff comes from places like USA, Europe and Japan, and shipping almost always is absurdly expensive, and on top of that, we get 60% tax on imported items over $100. So the only option for the budget-conscious (like me) is Chinese headphones.

Wow, I had no idea countries were charging 60% import duties across the board on all goods over a certain value like that. This probably explains why so many Chinese companies focus on making cheap goods - so they can easily export to countries with these high import tax duties! I'm guessing the original idea behind the tax was to encourage people to buy local, domestically made products (and encourage Brazilian business and economy) however it sounds like it has backfired? With so many cheap goods flowing out of China, how does a local company compete?

Of course the real solution to this problem would be to actually incorporate and have people pay the real cost of shipping, but that's been foisted on to the next generation by allowing cargo ships to pollute as much as they want in international waters (where there is no environmental regulation) so they burn bunker fuel, the thickest, most polluting fuel there is (the leftovers after all the worthwhile oil is refined, a sludge literally so thick it is solid at room temperature and requires a special boiler to heat up the fuel so it is liquid and can flow into the engine to be burned). Cargo ship pollution if considered as a single global output (like a nation) comes in seventh in the world. Of course that fuel is cheap. And even though the ships can't burn it near shores, the residual fumes cause high rates of cancer, asthma, and repository illness for those who live near port cities that dock the cargo ships.

I find it crazy that so many goods can be shipped for free or very little from China to the US (and I'm guessing other parts of the world?) Yeah there's the sentiment, "wow so much cheap but pretty good stuff!" especially in this day and age when the middle class has gotten squeezed so hard and the rich have gotten super-rich and so much of the wealth is concentrated in the upper 1% but it also could be that chasing after these concerningly cheap goods (some of which isn't durable and doesn't last as long as it should) is feeding into a culture of overseas produced consumption which is accelerating the decline of local businesses and local economies could have theoretically helped the middle classes everywhere on the globe. I don't see the countries of the world getting together to figure out environmental guidelines for how we shouldn't pollute international waters anytime soon, so I guess the next generation will get to deal with the fallout from this.

Still considering my options and looked closer at Status Audio CB-1s based on their reputation (sound-good, build quality-bad). I was stuck that the CB-1s, a 50mm driver, look very similar to the MDH9000 clones.

Which makes me wonder how the CB-1s and MDH9000 clones compare sound-wise.

Im also considering m40x's at this point, but I would having to get a 2.5mm mic.

As to Brazil, have a relative that lives there... the import taxes are absolutely atrocious for electronics. You have my sympathy. Beautiful country and wonderful people though.

Adding to that, shipping from China to here is very cheap, so that's another factor that makes Chi-fi the most viable option.

Getting back to the topic of the thread, I'm probably getting the MDH9000, I think i'll like the raised bass since i'll use it for casual gaming and movie watching. Hope the bass makes music sound fun too.

It does. I only use mine for music but I can imagine it also being good for gaming and movies.

Well, that is just worse! Soon they will be extinct just like unicorns.

Ewwwwww... unicorn fur? ;o

Hmm... I wonder where folks are finding these obscure headphones. eBay?

They do sound fun and they will be perfect for what you want to use them for. I changed out the stock earpads for the round Brainwavz earpads and they sound great.
