Yes, because a lot of the $5 sticks are garbage.

Personally though, I think im going to go with the iBasso D1.

I bought 2 3D stick and works fine on my desktop XP, but on my Compaq Presario laptop makes clicky sound. Quality of sound seems same as the TBAAM on my desktop.

If you could, that wouldn't be a bad idea, it'd actually probably be pretty easy. I'd try it first if I hadn't already given mine away. (Upgraded to an EMU0404)

Ya, I don't have mine with me though, so it'll be a couple weeks until I take a look at it.

So you would basically just rip the opamp off and put wires in place of the pins?

Micah - Nice, I have two of those myself and use one at work and the other at home. Works fine in Linux as well.

I've never had a problem with USB sound devices in Linux. I use Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.

I think I would try with some probes as line out connected to a cheap old amp and speakers of some. Then you could hunt around for the line out signal to save distroying it, before I knew if it would work.sort

Got my .99 cent unit today...exactly the same one that spudman showed us on the ledshoppe.com web page. SURPRISE...SURPRISE...didn't work! My Toshiba M65-S809 wouldn't recognize it and also said that the unit was malfunctioning. When plugged into the USB slot the 3D SOUND LED's would light up...1 red and 1 green and then the green light would flicker and die out. No sound at all through the headphone connection. I guess that you get what you pay for!! Not a recommended product!
