I've always liked chillout/lounge type music for just laying back and relaxing, through I've usually just gone to internet radio sites to get my fix and have never really paid much attention to the artists. Now I want to take some chillout on the move with me with my iriver and i'm at a loss as to what's are some good bands for this kind of stuff.
What i'm thinking of is ambient trance, light jazz stuff(if someone says Kenny G there will be pain...), space music, and overall really laid back smooth beats (mostly electronica). So far I know about Thievery Corporation and like a lot of their stuff.
Other than that...
Ambient by Moby, really early work for him, is pretty nice, and is said to have helped define the whole 'ambient' genre as a word.
Some stuff by The Orb, and Future Sound of London is good too, and Shpongle is some of the great ambient trance i've ever heard.
Also recently picked up some stuff by Soma which has been ok.

Keeping in mind what I currently have and like, anyone got any recommendations on some good chillout albums?

Zero 7 put an album out a month or so ago. I'm not sure how good it is, but their debut, "Simple Things" from 2002 is top notch. It's full of good grooves, but comes off as a proper song album. It has a funky urban soul feel with the odd ambient cue. Sort of downtempo like Kenny G, but more invigorating like Yanni mixed with a little of John Tesh's adventure. Sorry, just kidding about that last sentence. I couldn't help myself.

How about some Entheogenic? Haven't heard the new album, but I really like Entheogenic - Entheogenic (generic naming 1 - creativity 0

I highly rate the following albums for chillout:

KLF - Chill out (totally different from their pop stuff)
Spacetime Continuum - Sea Biscuit
Bob Charlesworth - Music for the third ear
The Irresistible Force - It's tomorrow already
Global Communication - 76:14
Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick

Also, if you can find a compilation called "Deep and chilled euphoria" it's absolutely top knotch.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92. This aint your "windowlicker" type Aphex, but far more chilled out. There's also Vol.II, but not as good, IMO. 85-92 keeps finding itself in my CD player, one of my favourites.

The Zero 7 (both) and Air (Moon Safari & Talkie Walkie) also get the thumbs up from me, too.

Nightmares on Wax! Damn, almost forgot this. I would definately recomend a Nightmares album (Carboot Soul).

4Hero - Two Pages. A nice mix of Electronic/Jazz/Drum 'n' bass

Sia - Colour The Small One. The female singer on Zero 7's albums.

Anything by Steve Roach. Listen to Light Fantastic, Dreamtime Returns, and Artifacts as a good introduction.
