Hi,
I am taking a sound design class and the lecturer has asked us all to each buy a pair of monitoring headphones. And he told the class to 'ask Joseph. Joseph is very knowledgeable about headphones'
So I find myself being an advisor of sorts for the whole class's purchases.
Now, most of the class is obviously going to go for the cheap stuff, and this is Hong Kong, so the usual suspects like the Koss are out, because by the time the mail order reaches them half the class would be over
So I need to recommend cans I can buy locally here in Hong Kong, and that means Sony, AT, AKG and Beyer, mostly.
Now, I know enough about the AKG and Beyer lineup, but what do you guys know about the Sony and AT lineup? I hear good things about the Sony CD3000 (forget it), CD1700 (forget it), and CD780 (getting warmer...). Is the lineup good value for money all the way down to the CD180? I once gave the CD380 a casual listen and they were all right, I think.
What about the ATs? I know the AD9 and AD10 are good, but I don't know what's the difference between them, and both are too rich for people's tastes, anyway. What about their other stuff? I don't need you to tell me about their even more expensive stuff like the W100, W2002, etc.
Thanks guys!
