Their specs suggest some monstrous power too :)

Not a product for the head-fi crowd, but cool nonetheless :)
Your new Phantom looks the part and quite interesting... Nice work!

Slightly off the main subject, but had anyone the opportunity to see/hear big Cen.Grand in Munich this year?

I should have a pair soon to play with! Perhaps I should try them with a pair of Susvara! lol

Posted impressions about the Silver Fox in the Munich show thread. Even given the limitations there I am pretty confident about getting one to go with my dCS Bartók.

Listened to the Zähl right after. I am not mastering albums, neither am I interested in dissecting music. So, no.

Also heard the Holo combination, but the setups were too different to really compare what is going on. Just one observation – the emotional impact I got from the Cen.Grand was lacking in the Holo combo. It felt more like the Holo ‘deck’ was out and waving at me in an agitated fashion.

With the recent release of the more affordable 'Little' Silver Fox the question everyone is asking me is what are the differences between these two models? Here is a basic summery:

Silver Fox 906
Little Silver Fox 806

1-Volume control: The 906 uses a MUSES 72320* & MUSES02** and the 806 uses a traditional potentiometer.
2-Power supply: The transformer of 906 is larger with higher power capability.
3-Components: High quality components are used in the 806 but even higher-end components are used throughout the 906.

Thank you for the details.

with such different quality of the pot used, I guess there will be a jump from Little to Silver, right?

Yes I suspect that would be the case. And for someone like me with an interest in driving the Susvara and the 1266 TC with one of these units, the smaller Transformer of Little Silver Fox 806 appears to be screaming "Red Flag" all the way. Or let's just say that if I were to get the 806 now, I would not stop looking over my shoulder at the 906 wondering "what could have been." Of course, in an ideal world, I would like to audition both units side by side with the two named cans before settling on the bigger or smaller Fox. I wonder why such opportunities for "auditioning before buying" are so hard to come by for some of us in this hobby.

Do any of these foxes get excessively hot when in use? If not then that is one advantage they might have over the Bliss, which seems to get quite hot according to some impressions I have read.

Exactly. Also, in some countries, there is still no 30-day satisfaction guarantee policy. Really buying blinded.

Speaking of which, I would love to hear any impressions of Silver Fox on TC and Sus!

The little silver fox may have a smaller transformer but it still produces 15 wpc @ 30 ohms. I am not sure what the output at 60 ohms is, but never the less it should drive the Susvara extremely well. I think either model will not disappoint.

I left my Silver Fox on for a week with daily usage and it just got warm, but never hot.

Mind telling me where are you located? I live in a country where 30-35c in the daytime is normal. I am almost unable to touch Audio GD HE9 head-amp for more than 10 seconds if I left it on 24/7. Even though the sound significantly improves with 2-3 hours of warm-up, I need to turn it off every day after use.

Echoing what slim said, mine has been on pretty much since I got it. Gets warm, but not hot enough for concern even lately with these 80+ degree days.
