CCA in ear monitors Impressions Thread

Hip dac is great for iems that are bright because the burr brown delivers a warm character. The Q3 offers clinical THX AAA amp with flexible ports. Some KZs are warm while others are quite bright from what I read here. But if you like bass with dynamic authority, low output impedance or high damping factor and fast transients or fast slew rate at low frequencies, I'd say Hip Dac is better.

Looks like there is a new CCA CRA+

Looks like they went for a more flat response.

Graph looks good:

Very impressive tuning for a sub-$30 IEM.

Subtle rebalancing that, at least in theory, will make these a little less dry and slightly more embodied than the original. Tonally both are strong sets but I'll be interested to see if the CRA+ can take some ground on the technicalities if the marketing is true of an 'upgrade' to the driver itself. Not a fan of the gold shell though, personally. I'd prefer matte black.

Quick impression on CRA+ after few days listening:

A more balanced version of CRA with a more detailed bass. Easy to drive. Sound signature should appeal to those who like ZAX, CKX and BL-03. Possibly also DQ6 but have not used it in a while. CRA+ has an open & clean sound that should make it an easy gift idea for most music types.

Negatives that are incompatible with my listening taste/setup - slightly sibilant and mid-bass punches a bit more than I like. Also gold-coloured iem is a bit much for me.

Have we gotten CRA vs. CRA+ exact same cable comparisons yet? Not that I checked every site selling them but I see "OFC cable" for the CRA and "high-purity silver plated" cable for the CRA+. So, I am looking to get a correct gauge on how much better the new one is on the driver side. Any one swap the stock cables on them yet?

CRA+ on order
Ordered mine on April 28, as well as 2 more sets of original CRA to give as gifts. My purchase has just cleared customs in my country, so I should receive them in about a week or so.

I really think this is a good cable for the CCA CRA.

I’m pretty sure @tgx78 has the same cable on his.

Great build quality and sound. Seems to open up the soundstage and give further extension to the bass and maybe to the treble as well.

+1 on that cable recommendation. Excellent price to performance ratio.

I use it on my NRA gives a good bit more body and thickness to the sound as well which the NRA desperately needs.

Just got CCA BTX. It is almost identical to KZ AZ09 pro, but the BTX is a little bit better in build quality. The case of BTX is a little bit heavier than the KZ. The modules themselves feels more solid and smaller. In term of spec and technicality, they are pretty much identical.
The BTX modules are easier to put back because the guide is different shape.
This BTX is a better option than the AZ09 pro imho.

I don't agree with that opinion. :) BTX specs say 5 hours per charge and the Pro gets 8 per charge. If you are using aptX and/or the higher output mode I might say the Pro is the better option.

I forgot the battery life of both. I thought they are the same. It might be due to the module is smaller this the battery size is smaller too. If so, the AZ09 pro is still the better option. I wish KZ upgraded the AZ09 pro.
