Logical ( or natural/intuitive) for increase is left to right. When you look the DAP from the top that corresponds to clockwise, which is default setting. When you turn the DAP 90 degree forward and look it at from the front, left to right means counterclockwise. That is the inverted setting.
So depending on how you look at your N7 when changing volume mostly, you can have different preference.

Yeah, clockwise for increase in volume makes sense as every other amp etc works that way. I'm not sure I've ever had a dap with the volume on the top and I never look down at the knob to change it so somehow my thumb and finger haven't organized their motion with the correct spatial sense.

I guess I'm going left to right with my thumb from the front which actually turns the wheel counterclockwise so I'm kind of doing the "intuitive" motion but from the wrong angle. It's like trying to undo a bolt thats on the bottom of something..

I'll try the other way and see if I make fewer mistakes.

**edit.. I tried it out last night and sure enough, from the front of the player, the wheel seems more like a volume slider so swiping to the right with my thumb to increase volume feels more intuitive even if that’s counterclockwise from the top.

I am streaming / download music from Apple Music. Is there a way to make the micro SD as default location for downloads instead of internal ones? Thanks

Apple Music - Yes, that is what I meant. I am thinking of downloading the songs to Cayin N7 for offline listening, within the Apple Music app of course, but would like the downloads to be allocated to the MicroSD; 64GB internal memory will fill up rather quickly. Is this possible to allocate downloads directory?

Also, how about Tidal and Qobuz?

At some point, I am thinking of getting hi-res files for use with the Cayin players, but am still looking for sources … Qobuz seems to come up a lot. Thanks!

Qobuz, tidal and Amazon tracks can all be downloaded for offline listening to the SD card on the N7

I use Qobuz and Amazon. Qobuz for me offers the best listening expereince out of the 3, I stopped using Tidal after having Qobuz for a few weeks. It's also cheaper for the year here in the UK, interface not as good as Tidal but not a deal breaker for me.
Amazon is a mixed bag. Software is terrible but sound quality has improved ove rth etime I've used it and it's even cheaper for the year. Has a few albums I can't get elsewhere so I stick with it for now.

- the green one seems to be made of some kind of leather, not the finest leather I’ve seen (by far) but it smells like leather, the yellow one is made of plastic as seen earlier (and smells like so),
- the seams on the green one are real, on the yellow it’s painted,
- on the bottom of the green one, the upper junction between left and right is thinner than the one on the yellow cover making possible to see the engraved inscriptions on the bottom, on the yellow one they are hidden.

Are you sure the green is leather? Looking at your last photo, on the sides, it looks like plastic edges (like the yellow one). And we can find glued parts on the green one too. You need real seems for leather.

Yes it seems to be leather. What you see is the borders finish you’ll often see on leather stuffs, even on highly luxurious brands, and it could be made of different materials. I guess it’s primarily here to hide and secure the assembly of 2 different leather parts on borders, but for the durability / aesthetic purposes it brings, it could also be set on the border of unassembled parts.

It‘s also present on RS8 leather case :



And as you can see there‘s the same principle on a high quality Longchamp bag (on assembled and unassembled parts), which is far from being a cheap leather manufacturer :



The seems aren’t incompatible with glue usage, seems alone won’t necessarily be sufficient, and also there’s no principle that when using leather, seems are mandatory, there’s leather stuff only made with leather parts and glue.

Since no one answered your first question clearly, here goes.

Yes there is a setting in the Apple Music app on Android to select whether the Downloads should go to the internal memory or an SD Card. You cannot select the folder on the SD Card, it is stored as part of the Apple Music app data on the SD Card and it is encrypted which means you also cannot transfer it from your SD Card. You can play the downloaded songs offline from the Apple Music app on your device only.

This is a feature of the Apple Music app on Android and so not specific to the Cayin N7, but any Android DAPs, phones etc.
