Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

Everybody hears it differently, I know you will ask a dozen of people with that same N6ii and the same module using Solaris or Andro, and they will all hear it differently. When you play EDM or pop or multi-instrument-layered tracks at normal listening volume - you not gonna hear much of hissing. But if you play some instrumental or vocal classical track with a single non-synthesized instrument intro or a drop and at lower volume level, you will hear it more pronounced with sensitive multi-driver IEMs. That's just the way it is. Thus people who say they do or don't hear it, each one is right in their own way relative to what and how they listen and of course their ear sensitivity and hearing level.

@Luke- the only thing I can recommend, switch to using single ended adapter for E02. You can get something as cheap as new DDHifi or ask any cable manufacturer to make a custom one for you. I mentioned in my E02 review that going from balanced to single ended with very sensitive IEMs like Solaris/Andro will cut down the hissing, to make it sound even lower than from E01 directly. Of course, that's relative to how I hear it, but worth a shot if you are willing to try it.
Thanks for the reply, yes it fine for EDM etc but anything quiet it’s very intrusive.
What card do you recommend that’s the least warm ?
I don’t really want to add adapters.

No I haven’t tried it Have no way to demo without purchasing it and I don’t want to do that... I find the A01 a tad to warm for me.

T01 is less warm than A01 and offer a nice organic texture. I like t01 a lot it has some brighter accent then E02 on treble can be fixed by selecting slow roll-off .

The way you are describing your impressions you will be happy with t01.

Les hiss
Less warm with nice organic taste and bass
Treble make more air and soundstage is wide
Its really good ! Hiss is at a level you wont hear it

Were you getting hiss on the E02 with you 64 Noir & 1960’s ?

Well I just received the E02 and looks like I can’t live with the hiss on my OG Solaris it’s more than the Hugo 2 so I’m unsure what direction to go in now move on to a different dap or different card maybe the E01.
My Fiio M11 has less hiss also....I must say I’m disappointed.

What do you think you will do with your E02? It has to be gutting to find out it doesn’t pair well with your Solaris.

Yes I do get hiss and it is much more then with T01. On T01 I can forget about hiss even on low volume passage in music...

Not with E02 and that squalshyyy weird cb radio signal interferences is weird!
It intermittent some times there some times not....

Overall E02 sound really good! I Still prefer T01 😊🙃🙂

Did you find any hiss on the A01 ? I’m trying to gauge how E02 relates to A01 in that regard.

A01 and t01 same hiss , like I barely hear it... I find that those 2 amps are the best to own and yes due to hiss 😪

E02 seem to be tighter and more punchier dryer hitting while T01 feels more organic and airy. Though it still very tight!

I do like T01 a lot its the closest one that gets to my moded 1z!
But treble is much better on my 1z. Bass is tighter on T01 then 1z/romi

What filter do you use on the E02 ?
I doubt you can hear an audible difference between the different filters, but they are distinguishable if you measure them.

But to keep you busy:

Fast Roll-off linear phase offers a neutral tonality and low resonance, suitable for listeners of fast-tempo music wanting a clean and crisp tail-note.
Slow roll-off linear phase offers the same neutral tonality with perhaps better detail retrieval. You can say that it's more "reference" sounding.
Apodizing is supposed to introduce a bit more "musicality."
Fast roll-off minimum phase highlights the mid-range and produces a more warm sounding signature.
Slow roll-off minimum phase also pushes the mid-range out more but is airier than the previous filter.
Hybrid filter is a comparatively thicker sounding profile.
And finally brickwall, which should be a neutral, warm sounding filter.

Honestly, the differences are so small I think most people cannot hear a difference, and for those who do claim to hear a difference, I wonder if they still can when tested blindly.

Going single-ended will probably give the best improvement among the Cayin boards, and then using IEMatch. I also think that A01 and T01 hiss about the same.

I just popped in T01 after a week with E01 and I agree with T01 description. T01 is wide and airy. Extends the bass focus towards sub-bass. E01 has a little more body to the sound and I would also say punchier and drier. A01 is even more organic and natural (smoother) IMHO.
