This is seriously an impressive dap!I can go on about transparency, detail retrieval, bass extension, texture and control, spacious soundstage and really amazing treble articulation but it has already been said before by respected headfiers like twister and other reviews so not much to add.A big step up from dx90 and as the saying goes starting to rediscover music library and specific genres like edtm that dx90 up to 2.1.5 l2 fw had problems with ie800 due to congested soundstage(,never thought i'd say that for dx90,the difference is big) and razor sharp at times grating treble. Also more musical and coherent with the entire sound spectrum like a proper hi fi device should be.

I can see the combination with the ie800 as a stop gap unless you want to spent for $3000 iems and $4000(!) for the new ak380.Any other purchase (having heard briefly the ak120ii) would be a side grade and i doubt the ak240 is that much better than ak120ii.At that level the synergy between dap and iem/headfone is more important.Really good with se846 also but out of the 10 hours i've been listening to n6 the  8 and a half was with ie800,it's that good! The se846 pairs really good with sony daps so it's either zx2 or the upcomming fiio x7 for that.

I noticed the battery drains 3-4% when power is off for the night (6-7 hours) is that normal?

i'm still holding onto my dx90, although i just bought a ray samuels p-51 to see how that would work, especially with more demanding phones.

i'm waiting for comparisons between the n6, the qp1, qp 1r and esther.  it appears that there will be emerging a new segment of $500-1000 daps. [includes the sony and a&k 100 and 120.  i also have a hunch that ibasso will eventually come out with a new player in that segment.]

and oddly it looks like the new hifiman hm-901 at $1500 will be sitting alone between roughly $1000 and roughly $2000.

I am a bit wary ever since my experience with dx90 firmware that radically change sound signature.I really like the soundstage of 1.1 and i read somewhere here or hardwarezone (can't remember) that there is a 40% reduction in soundstage with the new fw.I mean i wouldn't mind if it was 10% or 20% but 40%????

(Seriously is that true?)...

No reduction or change in sound quality and soundstage. Why not try it yourself? You can always go back to the old firmware if you don't like it.

Haha I found I heard a change in the soundstage. But in a good way. Instead of being so holographic it seemed unnatural, with 2.0 it was more realistic and I found the sound overall was more organic/real as opposed to processed sounding.

But that us with my perfect, unbiased, golden ears....

Just try it, worst case. Go back :)
