Trust me, the output from LO mode is significantly lower then the PO even at a relatively low volume setting. I suggest you can try this out staring with some not-so-sensitive IEM with N6 if you have these around. Start with something that require around Vol. 30-40 at Low Gain and plug into the LO, and you can experience how low the sound level will be, by then you probably will be more confident in trying out the LO with more sensitive IEM as well.

Yes, I have tried that myself. I can't speak for other DAP, but with N6 and the forthcoming N5, this should be the case.

Hmm, interesting! I'll give that a try with some beater IEM when the tour N6 makes it to me.

Thanks @Vartan, just wish there would be at least a few shots of N5 next to N6.  I can't get a good feel for the size of N5 without comparison next to another DAP, I guess will wait for Andy to post his pics

Pics would be great!

N5: 111 x 64 x 16.4 mm

N6: 128 x 70 x 20 mm

X5: 114 x 68 x 15 mm

DX90: 100 x 64 x 17 mm

Looks like right in between DX90 and X5 to me.

X5ii (109 mm× 63.5 mm× 15.3 mm)  would appear to be the closest fit, but I guess anyone who has one of these will not be looking for a change right now.

you will see photos of a Cayin exhibit where the N5 and N6 are close together on a display table.

(I can't seem to post a photo for some reason.)

Testing n5 from Hong Kong AV show, using ie80, shure olives, 8/c silver cable from labkrable  listening to it. Yesterday was kind of noisy will try to listen to it again early today
first impression: lots of great features inherited from n6. Able to play a wider variety of files, balanced out ( L+. L-, R+, R- , Gnd), USB3, double TF slot
the screen is really nice the photo cant do justice, but i feel they cranked up the contrast and brightness in the engineering sample
SQ wise (at the similar price range and same file format play back): better than X5, but QA360 still wins over for wav/fac file.
size: if you cut it into half it is ak100 size
first impression cons: balance out nothing new (seen it at MD player era). I doubt I will be getting the benefit from blanc (see below), unless blanc out, then xlr to my amplifier
no optical out  (making a true 75ohm coaxial is a pain).
It was a bit warm when I played with it the first day. The second day I visit, it feels like 40C when it completed a charge (anyway 10 times better than dx100) .
Qa360 goes warm only if I have it play flac / dsd  and leave it on in the bag for 5 hours straight. Charging plug problem same as qa360 not too bad

I was thinking to per-order it but Chinese engineering sample always sound different to the final product......

PS: IMO any price range at se835 ($300 approx. above) goes into headphone area,
I still thinks  wave from qa360 is very equal to n6. I still cant tell the different between 32bit, 24bit file or 24/96 or 24/192 file and even listening under a $100K stereo setup.
So everything above might just be a grain of salt

These are the photos I took this morning before I head off to the Hong Kong AV Show.

While most, if not all, Audio Show in rest of the world finished at 5pm, the HK AV show finished at 8pm instead, so everyday is a long day.
Now that the show is over, I'll take a good rest before I get back on track.

I have also worked out the volume of the two player for your reference, just in case someone are more interested in the numbers then photo:

Main Chassis of N6 = 68mm x 126mmx17.6mm = 150,796.8 cu mm
Circular Top of N6 = Pi x 72mm ^2 x 2.1mm = 34,200.71 cu mm
i.e., Total Volume of N6 = 184,997.51 cu mm.

Vol of N5 = 64mm x 111mm x 16/4mm = 116,505.6 cu mm.

According to these number, N5 is only around 63% of N6 by volume, or we can say N5 is 37% smaller then N6, which to me, is significantly smaller !

What is the surface of that wheel made of? Seems to me that texture on it could grind your thumb off if you got to do alot of scrolling.

The wheel is crafted by aluminum the pattern is not as sharp as it look on the real thing, Cayin has smoothed the edges to make it fairly comfortable to scroll with.:D

Interesting. Have to wait for some impressions now. Also to see what the actual cost is - at the rate Canada is going we'll be begging Greece to let us use their Drachma by the end of the year.

Was thinking the Zimbabwean Dollar...

Would much rather have seen a single SDXC slot than twin TF.

Still, if it will be a similar price to the X5 ii then it will still be much too expensive for a portable player by the time I have bought those twin TF 128GB cards so I won't be buying one anyway.

When is someone going to make a reasonable price DAP (i.e. X1 or at a pinch A15) with a full SDXC slot?
