Same problem today.
Listening to some tracks, around 15 min. the unit crashes during music playback. Screen is off, n3pro next to me with no hands on the device.
samplerate: 44.1 / 16 ripped form cd to flac
started playback from album view, which is what i normally do.
I think this is going back soon. don't want to mess a round with the crashing os.
Makes me a little sad because I like how n3pro sound in triode mode more, than my a&k sp1000m (just tried with original Andromeda right now).

Edit: to give this a chance I will reformat my sdcard. What's the best choice for the device?

For this try I choose exFat, which is mostly the best choice for sdcards as this format is valid for almost every device.
After that I'll grab some files ripped on my innuos zen mini mk.3
I'll choose windows 10 explorer for this, so there are no Apple "dot" files involved here
All Flac, all 44.1/16

So before returning my unit I made a little test. I formated an 8 GB microSD on my Samsung phone. Then transfered 12 tracks from HDtracks sampler album (free from their site) directly to the card. No folder. 24 bits FLAC audio files. Been playing with all the features and all the buttons. So far no crash for the first time. I will continue my test during the week-end and keep you posted.

My N6ii is currently with Cayin in China being repaired and the N3Pro has piqued my interest. However, the lack of TIDAL could be a showstopper for me. Has anyone compared the N3Pro's sound quality to a Cayin N6ii with E01?

On a separate note, I have a growing library of my own FLAC songs. As they're all 16-bit 44.1kHz, would I be using the N3Pro to its fullest? The only way I get Hi-Res music is with TIDAL and Qobuz at the moment.

Nice review, thank you. One thing, though - as an iPhone 8 Plus user I can get N3 Pro to connect via AAC over Bluetooth. It sometimes takes a couple of goes to establish the handshake; often it defaults to SBC but it is worth persevering with IMO. Streaming Tidal HiFi over AAC sounds 'good enough' to me, which was a surprise. My previous experience with SBC Bluetooth was not good and has put me off wirelessness until now.

I've been blowing hot and cold on purchasing this player, don't really need it, but at that price why the hell not.

Sorry to disappoint you. This is a design constraint, not a bug. we have explained the reason behind the limitation already (HERE). We believe this is the best optimisation for N3Pro and we have no plan to revise this limitation in the N3Pro product life.

or maybe adding an option to turn off the cap?? At least an option for user to choose...
