I forgot that I had a laptop, I always connect to my gaming PC via USB. I connected my DAC to the laptop and still had the same result. Looking back, I recall my ifi Zen Can creating electrical interference noise everytime I changed volume so I think it's dirty power and a DC blocker should eliminate the hissing.
With my arya i have no noice. On the other hand.. with my hd600 i have noise in the right channel. please tell me if the DC blocker help for you. Then i'll buy one. Might go for the audiolab. I will try the focal clear mg this afternoon. Thanks

Cheers

Got some Tung Sol Black Glass 12au7. First NOS tubes that truly feel warm and enveloping. Paired with Tung Sol 6v6gt.

Brimar tubes from Langrex also came in. Nice orange font and the sound is nice. These 12au7 tubes are more similar than different from my other tubes. I think I'm going to hold off purchases now that I have a nice selection.

Oh I love that Magnavox print. Did you get them new or are those pull outs?
Tungsol 6v6 is surprisingly one of the warmest 6v6 with a great low-end.

Here a more neutral sound roll.

Visseaux 6v6g + Westinghouse 12au7 + Japanese black plates 22de4

Those Westinghouse 12au7 (made in USA) were only made for a short period of time, then RCA did use the Westinghouse label. I also saw Westinghouse made in Canada and Taiwan.
Seems to be a hidden champion. Not warm as other American black plate 12au7.

Where'd you get the Tung Sol 22DE4? I would love to complete the set like I have with RCA.

I purchased the 6V6GT from an eBay seller mentioned here before: Nova.76
Best condition and price I've ever purchased tubes from.

The black glass 12au7 tubes were much harder to find. Had to set up a notification on eBay to get a matched pair. (All I saw were single tubes in poor condition)

From eBay www.vacuumtubesinc.com. The guy had several quads and pairs of all 22de4 manufacturers but got sold out weeks ago. Got the Tungsol for free to my order.
Tungsol never made 22de4 it seems. I also have an RCA relabeled as Tungsol.

Ah I know the Ken. He sells mostly used tubes. Sometimes he has NIB tubes but otherwise I wouldnt buy there.

Yea the Tungsol blackglass are sometimes hard to get. Patience is key if you want a pristine pair still having it's print.
12au7 family has so many variants it's crazy. Lots to choose from and all sound great in the our Cayin amp!

Can someone tell me please which tubes are responsible for the left channel and which are the right channel?

If I stand in front of the device are the right tubes for the right channel and the left tubes for the left channel?

Thank you very much 😁

Right is right and left is. Secret tip- when wearing your headphones gently tap on a tube with your fingernail and you will know right away which channel it is driving.

Stayed for a long time with Fivre 6V6G, Mullard (Blackburn Made) ECC82 and stock RCA 22DE4 which had a very rich and full bodied sound.
Switch today to National Union 6V6GT, GE Pewter Plate / D Getter 5814 and Japanese Black Plate 22DE4. A bit clearer and leaner sound. But Visually they look absolutely stunning.

Will see if I will stay with these…

Its always been on the lowest impedance as the noise gets worse going to medium and high. I swapped out the nos tubes and put the stock ones and and I noticed the noise was reduced but it was still there.

Do you reckon this should fix the issue? https://ifi-audio.com/products/iematch4-4/
ifi iematch 4.4 work great in my system zero hiss or noise anymore with high impedance and high sensitivity headphones

Any luck?
No the DC blocker did not work but I suspect its a ground loop issue so I actually got the Ifi GND defender today so I will update you if that works.

I've read the whole thread, unfortunately there is no positive experience reported about the combination of the Cayin HA-3A with Audeze LCD-X/XC.
Technically, the 20 ohm impedance of the Audeze LCD-X/XC shouldn't be a problem, but is it really a desirable combination?

The combination of the Ifi DC Blocker and GDN Defender has eliminated about 80-85% of the backround hissing with my HD800S so I can finally start listening to that headphone on the amp as the noise was atrociously bad beforehand. It also eliminated the very slight background hissing with the LCD 4 so its a completely dark background now.
