Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

I'm happy to report that the HA-3A runs the E80CC beautifully. I received a pair of Valvo E80CC and they are running without issues. They stage absolutely massive. The depth perception particularly is stunning. Especially with my Atrium it's a wild ride. I know it's a cliche but I've never gotten this close to feeling like you're in the room with the band.

Those Valvo tubes look really nice. Are they made by Philips ? I'm not into E80CC yet.

I really start love the Valvo ecc82 aswell. Very clean and neutral sound. Especially good with Mazda 6v6.

Those Valvo E80CC are indeed made by Philips. You can tell because the plates only have two small vents at the top and the bottom. The Tungsram made E80CC have holes in the middle of the plate as well like you can see in the below example:

Did my first tube upgrade! I'm surprised how much better this amp sounds. My Meze 109 Pro sounded harsh with the stock tubes. The Fivre 6v6gt fixed that and more. I need to listen some more and with the HE1000v2, but I'm already impressed!

Some notes:
• Removing and installing tubes was really stressful. It's a reeeeally tight fit for some reason.
• The Fivre 6v6gt do have more noise than the stock 6v6, but it's negligible when music is playing. I haven't tested the 4.4mm port.
• It fits in the cage!

Looks very similar to my setup but with Tungsram E80CC instead of Philips. I haven't touched the rectifier yet, did you notice a difference moving to the Sylvania Black Plate 22DE4?

Hard to say.
In any case, it feels better - from a purely psychological point of view.

Haha, I know what you mean! The small base on the stock RCA does look a bit flimsy compared to your Sylvania one...

@Louisiana

I dont own a HA3A but i do have a HA6A, I was under the impression that these amps only take 12au7 tubes as drivers. How are you able to run E80CC tubes in that spot? Could you please elaborate?

E80CC is comparable to 12AU7 it "just" requires more heater current from the amp. I asked Cayin if the amp could handle E80CC and they confirmed that it's designed with enough capacity to run them. Maybe ask them the same question about the HA-6A.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't spend that much time online.
No idea how it is with the HA-6A, but with the 3A it works, meanwhile even "officially":

The E80CC is a very good tube, but it should be noted that it also provides more power, so nothing for easy to drive cans.
My LCD4 normally runs on Gain M, but with the E80CC on L.

The sound is outstanding, voices and string instruments get a never heard magic, better than any other tube I have!

If I were you I would ask Cayin if you can use them in your 6A, it's worth it :)

Is it a typo on the Cayin page as it says E82CC or is E82CC the same as E80CC?

Beautiful, have fun with the new cam
By the way,how good the Spring 3 do you have works with the Cayin?
Loving the Spring 3. I had the Ares II for 2 years before getting the Spring 3 and for me it's an improvement across the board. It combines space and amazing tonality with powerful low end and control. And I like how versatile it is. NOS has it's own sound - very natural with more texture - and Upsampling with Roon or HQPlayer is a bit smoother and with a more sparkly sound to it. Currently I'm running from Spring to HA-3A via XLR. The only other DAC I currently have in house is a Khadas Tone 2 Pro. Between those two it's not even close and the the HA-3A clearly profits from Spring 3 a lot.

Out of interest how much transformer hum do people have with the 240V version?
