still waiting for mine to arrive, only thing bothering me is the white leds on vu meter.

any mods for the Vu meters led to gold/orange to match with the tubes glow?

One possible option would be to cut some light gel filters and overlay them but you would still be stuck w/ the power button and volume lights not matching. You might also be able to fine cut some pieces to fit over those as well but that might start to look a bit tacky & unattractive where the VU meters I think you could do quite easily and make it look good.

I think opening up the amp and doing a direct mod could be done but unless you know what you are doing that seems a bit risky and an option I would just as soon avoid.

I actually have some gels laying around my studio that I could test this out and perhaps post some photo's once I receive my amp back from Zach.

EDIT: Actually looking at photo's a bit more closely (I don't have my amp on hand atm) I think the VU meter & Volume knob could be modded w/ the gels and look quite good but that power button on the other hand is another story.

Perhaps a well surgical steady hand and a sharp X-acto knife could pull off a nice fitted overlay for that too.

Another concern is whether or not the amp led's are bright enough to shine thru the gels w/ enough transparency. Using an orangish gel might not allow for the red VU meter arm to read very well but that would just have to be tested.

But why not wait for the silver version with orange LEDs? I think the first batch will be released this month?

I didn't know they were using orange LED's for the silver amp but tbh I think some ppl may prefer the black amp w/ orange led's. The led color choice seems a bit backwards. Like why not put orange led's w/ the black amp and white w/ the silver. That seems like a better match up from a aesthetic design perspective.

It seems like the silver version is already available and has white led lighting. My bad.

Do you guys already have an ECC82/12AU7 favorite?

Does anybody know the difference (if there is one) between the Fivre 6V6G (Coke Bottle) and the smaller Fivre 6V6GT?
Thx

Edit: Just learned from a fellow headfier, no difference technically, just different shapes. :)

Many good combinations possible . Tubes only color the sound of this amp. Resolution and staging stays quite untouched here.
Tubes don't sound good or worst. It's just a matter what sound fits your taste. Or you just enjoy tuberolling like me.

Generally Philips/Amperex would be my favourite 12au7. crisp top end, Clear mids, good low-end. Good in everything.

Best combination from neutral to warm --> Mazda, Visseaux, GEC, Marconi, Tungsol, RCA 6v6

Other 12au7 favourites are early kenrad 5814, Tungsol 12au7 50s, Brimar 13d5

Kenrad pewder plates + GEC 6v6 early version ...absolute treasures.

Might of missed discussion here but can the HA-3A run 6SN7 with adapters for drivers ?
Wasn’t being recommended by Andy/Cayin. We’re stuck with only the recommended tubes (12au7 and 6v6 and the rare rectifier) which is okay with me tbh

Hi considering this amp and a few other amps can use 12bh7 in place of the 12au7. I have a bunch 12bh7 and hoping to find a answer if they work in this amp.

I would say they have a liquid sound to them. Makes them very euphonic, some warmth, tight bass.

The longer I listen with those, the more I like them. Amazing smooth euphonic sound with my VC. Sounds close to OTL.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback, I have the VCs as well so that sounds like they could be fun. Langrex describes them as "long bottle" but do they still fit under the cage?
