So I guess my Ha-3a died to today, 8 month after the purchase. Strong loud hiss on the right channel, no matter which tube is used. Checked the cables and connectors, tried both RCA and XLR. It wasnt in use much, since most of the listening time goes to bliss, with occassional tube goodness with Ha-3a. So maybe 200h of listening time in total.
Curious if son-video honours my customer rights now, pretty meh, since its a rathe expensive piece of hardware which had rather little use so far.
Maybe some dust got in somewhere on one of the right 6v6 or 12au7 inserts.

Has anyone got any experience with Hifiman HE1000 on the Cayin
I have HE1000Se -- the perfect pairing with Cayin.
Bass control is excellent. And texture, quantity, quality, and so on -- may depend on the type of tubes used

I need some advice.

1. can i use E80CC tubes?
2. I found Tungsram E80CC and ECC82 at the flea market. Which ones are preferable in your experience?
3. I also found the RFT ECC82 mentioned above, but I don't know which one to choose. There are 1965, 1970...
4. recommend please NOS (or not NOS) 6v6 tubes to pair with RFT (or Tungsram).

can I ask you a favor?

could you turn the plug in the socket 180 degrees (if you have a euro plug of course) and listen to the result? I'm curious to hear the difference from before.

I have personally found that the amp plays very rich, thick, and full when the power cord is plugged in out of phase
I have a UK plug unfortunately.

Has anyone got any experience with Hifiman HE1000 on the Cayin. I have an IconHP8 signature which is a great amp but cannot control the bottom end sufficiently, base detail & texture lacking, thinking about going back to SS amp but do love the sound of tubes
I have the HE1000 Stealth and it is a great match, unless you need to tame the highs, which this amplifier does not do, at least for my ears.

I am a little sensitive to treble, I suppose that could be turned a little by tube rolling. The dealer who is offering me the amp also sells the Violectric V222, which was on my short list, maybe try that also see how they compare

hifiman headphones work great with tube amps. they get more body, density, richness, get rid of excess brightness. violectric 222 is a dead sound.

Ok, thanks for the advice, my reservations are based on my limited experience of tubes, my HP8 is great overall, just suffers with base quality, details, I still find the overall sound addictive though, will give the Cayin a go, especially as I am being offered 30% off for a demo unit.

I didn't find tube rolling that effective but who knows, I haven't tried more than 6-7 combinations....
I had a V200 which reportedly sound a bit warmer than the V222 (not sure if that is true) : the HA-3A is in a different category. I did a fair bit of A/ B comparison: the V200 went on Ebay after that. Not a bad amp but the HA-3A is much more "alive" (dynamic), spacious and detailed. I did not have the HE1000 at that time.
