Here is a real noob fuse question for this amp. Which of the 3 fuses are you all replacing with the Audio Magic M1? I'm assuming the fuse not he power supply and not the two that are located by the tubes?

I see this specs for fuses:

What options would you do for the m1?
Size:
Blow-Time:
Amps:
These pictures are super misleading, as you have MK1 specs mixed with a MK2 U.K. (230V) version diagram above it? As I mentioned in my previous post, the MK1 and MK2 use different size fuses and then U.S. (120V) and U.K. (230V) also use different size fuses for each make.

It is very important that people make sure you are looking at the right specs for each make and location. That sure would suck big time if you paid 300 bucks for the wrong size fuse only to blow it immediately or cause potential harm to your amp.

Oh man thank you @Wes S good catch! 🙏

Im in the US using a mk ii so I’d need a 3.15A.

I’ll go back and edit that post. I thought I was looking at the right manual online, but obviously I had the wrong one pulled up.

This is the one I used quite sometime. Is it only one fuse on the power supply?

Yes, there is only one fuse used for the power supply at location 7 on Diagram 2. I am assuming you are using the 230V mk2 version, and if so that's the wrong size fuse you have pictured. The one you have pictured is the correct size for the U.S. 120V mk2 version not the 230V mk2, so I imagine if there is a surge damage could happen to your amp long before the fuse blows. You need a size 1.6A not 3.15A, if you are using 230V mk2.

Then there are two more on each side of the 300bs labeled V3 and V4.
Correct, and no one has mentioned upgrading those yet, and I have held off on those as I feel the power supply is where you probably get the best results anyway so that's why I started there. I do plan to upgrade those next to the 300B's as well at some point, but not really in a rush.

It will do make a change but not as significant as main fuse

Thanks for all advise, it look like I need to switch back to the original stock fuse right the way.

My M1 just came in. The box recommends 120 hours of burn in. Just swapped it in. It has a cleaner sound than the stock fuse. The sound feels a tad more V shaped. The top feels more crisp and defined, but at the expense of some smoothness. That may level out in time. The sound feels more decisive. I don't think it is as big of an upgrade as swapping my cables (so far), but it does sound different. The treble definition seems to be the biggest change to my ears upon first fire up. Now I just need some Elrogs...

The Elrog gods eagerly await your sacrifice.

On SR purple, treble edginess went away in less than 12 hours. Great thereafter, with some improvement out to 100 hours. Or brain burn in, but the pattern was the same for 3 amps and a DAC.
