I used the Sennheiser HD650's and HD800's with the SLI-80 and they both sounded great. The very first post in this thread states that output impedance of SLI-80 is 8/11 ohms. There is also 1/8 impedance rule. Does that mean that SLI-80 is suited for headphones with impedances of 64 ohms and above? I see some users connect LCD-X (which I also own) with impedance of 20 ohms. How do they sound with SLI-80? Are there any problems?

That would be great, thank you! I also own HD650 which are not on par with LCD-X in terms of resolution and dynamics, so I was looking into HD800S with their 300 ohms impedance since they might be a better match for SLI-80.The 1/8 rule is nothing absolute. Haven't tried the X on the SLI80 actually but I can try to do soon as i have both. Feel free to pm if I forget

Thank you for your reply and yes, both of these are high impedance headphones with 300 ohms.I used the Sennheiser HD650's and HD800's with the SLI-80 and they both sounded great.

as an FYI... I'm likely moving to a SET amp soon, so I'll likely be listing (on US Audiomart) my SLI 80HS with factory upgraded Mundorf caps and Hexfred rectifiers... 2023 model with like new Gold Lion KT88's and bias meter. I have extensive 100% user feedback on Audiogon and US Audiomart under username "pdreher".
Holler if interested.

I use mine almost exclusively with the LCD-X and love it. I also use the HD600s and Beyer T1 as well with no complaints.
