[size=small] Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (80 ohms) supposedly just like the M50's but a little better. I would have gotten this but its comes in at $180. Is it worth the $80 to get these over the M50's? Plus extra costs for the amp.[/size]

M50 will probably be fine for you - and they will drive just dandy from most phones (I'm assuming you have something like an iPhone).

One of the main advantages the DT770 has is its comfort. Also, I'm not sure that you'll hear that much of its sonic advantage over the m50's if all you listen to is hip hop. The m50's should be fine for you.
