hi,
the ear  pads of my hd595 are a bit dirty, and I  wanted to remove the ear pads to clean them.
I  followed some advice there , that you have to pull them "firmly but gently",
and all I  managed is to crack them.
Now I  want to clean them and sew them.
But can't find any manual on sennheiser explainning  how to remove the ear pads, this is exasperating.
Now I  have a cracked headband ("repaired with tape"), and cracked  ear pads, this sucks.

Finally managed by following the mod 555 to 595  video, but the ear pads
are messed up now.

All you had to do was pinch on one side, and pull hard.
iirc. the mod is reversible. All you have to do is stick the tape back in, right?

Reverse the mod, put everything together. Maybe contact Sennheiser see what they can do for you.
They shouldn't crack from normal stress (change of pads).

I  wasn't modding, the mod video helped to remove the ear pad.
They cracked because I  must apply the pressure of fingers in multiple points, which I  failed to do properly until I  saw video. And also perhaps because they are three years old, with frequent use.

Now they are like this, will try to sew & glue,  until I  can get a new pair of ear pads (not  easy delivery from where I  live):
