Will Sennheiser or any other company be doing measurements for custom in-ear tips/iems at canjam?
It is something Sennheiser does at select EU events thanks to our audiology collaboration based in Germany, but not something we will have at CJ NYC this year.

My radio is still locked on WRIF.
WRIF RADIO!! I absolutely adored that station, and when the family moved to Washington State (where I continue to reside all these years later), the lack of great rock radio stations was startling. :beerchug:

Do visitors bring their own ear tips and only test with them? Or do the exhibitors provide them? And do you bring all your portable equipment so that you can test with your own favorite music? Or do the exhibitors have fixed playlists or streaming services such as Qobuz or Tidal?
All of the above. :)

TL;DR

Many (most?) vendors will bring music preloaded on a dap and/or tablet, or run a Roon or similar local network, as opposed to streaming it. Maybe some stream, but i don't recall that. Really best to have your own dap or phone source + dongle imo with your fav & best music known to you to properly audition iems and hp. So that you may best hear differences in presentations from what you're used to.

Hadn't ever thought of bringing my own tips (I guess that I never used to audition iems until a few years ago has something to do with that). But it's not a bad idea. Just that most of my iems and fav tips for them are large bore and many maybe the majority of iems arent. In that case bringing a differing set of bores makes sense.

Some manufacturers spend much of their time sterilizing iem bodies and tips, and we reuse them. Others have a box filled with hundreds of tips and tell you to take the tips with u after iem audition.

...all of the above answers it pretty well (minus the streaming part)

edit: Just saw the Qobuz segment in the preview video. I stand corrected on the 'minus the streaming part' comment, as I learned they'll be a contributor to source music around the booths.

Thank you all for the great explanations on how to deal with ear tips, sources etc. at exhibitions. As a beginner, these are very valuable.

I spent 5 years living near Detroit, Brian! WLLZ, WABX, and WRIF were my constant flip and cruise stations from my YUTES!!

Enjoy CanJam!! Be safe, travel safe. That goes for all of you who can make it.

100%. Detroit had the best radio stations of any city I’ve ever lived in, hands down.

With less than 48 hours to go before CanJam NYC 2025 begins it's time to call attention to a few things that have been mentioned on this thread but aren't getting any love.

Thing One: The CanJam Preview Video which is full of useful information about the hot products which will be featured at CanJam. Whatever you are interested in, headphones, amps or IEMs, there is a section in preview video that give you a heads up what products to explore in more detail while at CanJam. Please try and find some time to review the video and also please try not to drool. :) While watching the video earlier today I learned about several item that looked interesting and put them on my shortlist of things to check out.

Thing Two: The CanJam Seminars Listening to different equipment for hours on end can be very fatiguing and taking a break from listening is always a good idea so why not make that break productive, educational and fun by going to one or more seminars. If you've never attended a CanJam seminar I highly recommend that find a seminar that interests you and try to attend. You will not be disappointed. By attending a CanJam seminar not only will something about headphones but you will see first hand what a wonderful community this hobby has created.

Come to the Danacable table (D5) and try our latest cable offerings and get 15% off MSRP, and enter in our daily drawing for a complete portable headphone system. Listen to the new TOTL universal Lazuli Symphony and our "voiced" cables - Voila (Susvara), Reve (LCD5), Poeme (Utopia), and Vocalise (Abyss 1266). Also the Head-Space headphone amp which just got an excellent new review on Audiophile Style. Come by, we'd love to see you.
