Any recommendations for good good in Chinatown?

Doesn't have to be pricey, just looking for the best eats. Hopefully, with reservation for a group of 5-10.

Good Good is also great, way uptown, just check their menu it’s small, I prefer stopping in for their great drinks over their food.

Golden Unicorn in Chinatown takes reservations and has some large round tables available. Not the best dim sum in the city, but very good and not too expensive. I tried Din Tai Fong recently and Golden Unicorn is better and 1/3 the price.

Since childhood, my go to is Pings or Great N.Y. Noodletown in Chinatown. My dad used to work at many of the restaurants in Chinatown, he was the one that brought back from Hong Kong the ink stamper one would use by the dim sum staff to indicate which price range dim sum was ordered on the order card back in the mid 80s.

Golden Unicorn in Chinatown takes reservations and has some large round tables available. Not the best dim sum in the city, but very good and not too expensive. I tried Din Tai Fong recently and Golden Unicorn is better and 1/3 the price.

There are definitely better and cheaper options around here than Din Tai Fung, but the main reason to go are:

Consistency - no matter which location you go to, the same dish you ordered in say their Taiwan location will be the exact same dish in their NYC location, or their Seattle location, or... they have very tight quality control hence why it took over six months to open to train the staff.

Feels like home - many who go to Din Tai Fung have been going for generations, so it's ingrained with members of going with family, with friends, and reliving that experience. That was one of the reasons why when it first opened in NYC, one could barely get a reservation for months due to people making multiple reservations to take their family and friends to relive those days, which goes back to the consistency that every location, no matter where you go, will taste the same.

It's not in Chinatown, but if you don't want to make the trek all the way there, check out Dim Sum Palace. It's just down 46th, about a block and a half from the hotel. Super awesome place. If you are gonna make the trip down, Chinatown has so many great options you'll have a hard time finding a place that isn't good.

There's also the Hell's Kitchen location of Tim Ho Wan.

I didn't see the seminar schedule on the Can Jam or at the top of this thread. Just wondering when it will be announced. I'd love to see a panel on the tech behind Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio binaural rendering. But because none of the vendors make spatial audio products, that's not likely to happen. And it's been years since Smyth Reserach has made an appearance at CanJam.

Edit - Actually, I think there's one vendor - Audeze -- whose gaming headphones have spatial audio. But again, those are markets for gaming, not music.

Been to both many times, Beacon theatre tends to have more stand up comics and Carnegie Hall is more classical or jazz ensembles. I used to have season tickets to Carnegie Hall one of my favorite venues, be careful not to get too cheap of tickets as there are some bad seats with partial blocked view and poor sound.

I've lived in New York for nearly 30 years and have been to the Beacon Theatre and Carnegie Hall many times. Perhaps I've been here too long, but I wouldn't go just for the venue. If there's a concert you're interested in seeing, sure. Jason Isbell is doing a solo show at the Beacon on Saturday night. I'll be there. Another famous venue in New York City is Radio City Music Hall. Classic Art Deco design. Not the best acoustics. I would certainlly recommend a tour of that venue and Rockefeller Center.

I'll be attending, and this is my second one. I went to one in London a few years ago, and loved it. (I live in westchester, so it is easy!@#). I want to buy a DAP, so there are a bunch I want to listen to at the show.

I got a Fiio BTR17 a few days ago, and am having trouble with it, (volume doesn't get louder past 40) so it may be going back, and I just go with a DAP (if anyone has any suggestions.)
