The main show doors may not open until 10am on Saturday, but the party often starts far earlier. Folks start showing up as early as Wednesday at most CanJams and there are often pre-game mini-meets taking place on Friday or after hours. Just check out some of the Impressions Threads and you'll find all sorts of stories about group dinners, get-togethers, and occasionally group activities like bowling, karting, and table tennis tournaments happening outside of the posted show hours. In my experience CanJam can absolutely start on Friday.

I plan on flying Southwest Airlines. I plan to bring with me a pair of headphones that will be secured in a Pelican hard case. Along with my backpack, will Southwest allow me to carry on the Pelican hard case as well? I haven't flown in years.

yep! most airlines (most) let you bring a "personal item" (backpack, purse, briefcase, etc) in addition to your carry-on. Your backpack is your carry-on, and the pelican is your personal item. I fly with gear alllllllllllll the time and have never had a problem as long as it isn't the HE 1 haha

Sweet! I wish I could join in earlier but it’s regular work for me during the week except for Friday when I actually have a family wedding to attend.

Other US airlines have varying carry on policies depending on the type of fare purchased, e.g. basic economy, main economy, premium economy, first.

Provided your personal item fits under the seat in front on you, you're fine (except maybe for leg room) on SWAL. However--no third item is allowed, even if it is a belt pack that you wear while flying.
