Can you paint Headphones?

You can use automotive paints, sure. You don't really NEED primer, but you will need to sand the area before you paint it. After you lay down the paint, be sure to finish it with some clear coat, it will make it shinier, and will help protect it from fading.

Primer is more to help the color be accurate and require less coats. IE painting red headphones white, without primer it will look pink without many coats. With primer it makes it easier to change the color. I get what you're saying though, usually primer helps close the pores of a surface to prepare it for painting and it also helps the paint adhere and plastic has no pores (but metal does)
