Can someone do a Sennheiser HD800 vs AKG K1000 review?

I am on my local HD800 pre-order list. if we get them sometime this decade I will be comparing the HD800 directly to the rig in my sig.

Considering the K1000 is really a nearfield speaker, I find their comparisons to a hp with earpads apples/oranges.

I know there are K1000 people out there who've now had HD800s for a few weeks. Doesn't anyone want to write up some comparisons?

From what I've read, the HD800s don't suffer from bass roll off, which is the K1000s' Achilles heal. But are they as detailed? They may have a smaller soundstage, but is the space between instruments as clear, albeit proportionately smaller? Do the HD800s expose coloration that you didn't previously know your K1000s had?

That's what I expect, too. But I could be wrong. We'll see - I'll order the HD-800 on Monday and I should have some thoughts by the end of next week.

Also, there's going to be a mini-meet in LA next month. My K-1000 is going and there should be a few HD-800s handy. I am certain there will be comparisons.

Oh, and you guys might want to check out the latest issue of Stereophile. I haven't had time to read it, however, I skimmed the HD-800 writeup and noticed a comparison to the K-1000.

Erik: Will you bring your Si2A3? I'll bring my Audio Note Kit 1 300B for comparison on the K1000.

As soon as my amp is finished I will do a comparison. From owning the K1000 multiple times, my expectation is that the K1000's presentation will make them hard to beat in regards to technical ability, but that the HD800's are probably more "listenable"(not a word lol) due to their smooth sound and tonal balance.
