Campfire Audio New IEM release

Comparing to the limited edition variants of the Andromeda (S, SE: Gold & MW10), the Ara is undoubtedly the neutral sounding one out of the lot. One thing that stands out from the Ara is the overall definition. The bass is very clean and tight. Vocals have good body and the upper midrange emphasis helps in the overall engagement. The treble is detailed and articulate with controlled sparkle. The positioning of vocals and instruments is very precise. There is holographic soundstage expansion, the width in particular. To sum it up, the Ara is clean & detailed and it has a very appealing sound.

My first Campfire product and I am absolutely loving the Ara's. I really did not expect them to be this good. Clarity and detail without being thin or shrill. Surprisingly good bass. Beautiful vocals. Really nice cable as well. All I was hoping for and more. Thank you for recommending.

Glad my recommendation helps. The Ara is a winner. Cheers!

Campfire Audio new releases Solaris 2020, Andromeda 2020 and Ara round up coming soon.

Where i stitch the various impressions post some summary.

In brief:

Andromeda 2020:
it seems like safest choice and has an ability to be an all rounder. More of a warm, smoother w sound than the V3, with good detailing and retains that Andro treble.

Solaris 2020:
If you want more low end and love that holographic sound stage, more mids than the OG...and the smaller shell of course.

Ara:
More a reference or studio sound. Technical and articulate. Enough low end to please still.

The overall sense of the latest CA releases is one of maturity and competency. They are all very coherent and excellently tuned.

I think it comes down to an individuals sonic preference with this latest release.

Is there a use-case for using both tho OG Andromeda and the Andromeda 2020?

If you own the OG (non-2020), then the 2020 isn't worth the investment imo, an incremental upgrade and very similar presentation overall. If you're looking to buy an Andro and prefer a more balanced sound, the 2020 is a slight upgrade all around, likely worth the price difference unless you find a cracking deal on an older variant.

The 2020 is significantly better than the OG. With that being said, the OG Andromeda is no slouch but 2020 has the edge in all aspects. However, if comparing V3 & 2020, difference is not night and day but 2020 is more refined. If you have the OG Andromeda, the 2020 is a good upgrade. Personally, I don't see use-case for both OG Andromeda and Andromeda 2020 as one is clearly better than the other. YMMV. Cheers.

@audio123
I'm using OG Andromeda V2, I could not find a real upgrade yet and I don't want to pay something like usd2K+ for a small upgrade so I'm wondering if Solaris 2020 is worth 3x the price I paid for my pair of Andromeda... Not sure!
This will depend on your budget, Solaris 2020 is priced at 1499 USD. The Solaris 2020 is definitely an upgrade over the OG Andromeda. You can consider the Ara too if you want a more neutral sounding IEM. Cheers.

@audio123 I'm ready to pay usd1. 5k for the solaris 2020 if they are a real upgrade to my Andro. If slightly better I'll pass
I read about Ara also, tempting too but I prefer warmer sounding IEMs
All the 3 new models are upgrade to the OG Andromeda. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either one so it depends on your preferred sound signature. Cheers.

What upgrades are you looking for in particular?

Vs the Andro (2018/V2), the Solaris 2020 provides a cleaner sound, less warmth and fullness in the midrange and mid/upper-bass especially. It has just as much bass, however, more sub-bass focussed with better extension from that DD, delivering a harder-hitting, more energetic sound. The top-end is a bit more detailed to me and certainly, it has more sparkle and energy even over the Andro. The Solaris 2020 does have a larger soundstage, the imaging also is better compared to the OG Andro but not so much the new Andro 2020 which sounds noticeably more organised to me. Hope this helps! As Ricky said, hard to go wrong with the new CFA flagships and the beauty lies in the choice we're provided with to pursue the sound best for our personal preference.

Two weeks to favor local businesses instead of global ultra-capitalism is looonnnggg…
