Can you elaborate on this a little? As I am in the same position as you had been prior to hearing the Elysium with the concerns of the single BA bass I’ll be curious to hear what flipped it for you?
Simply due to the bass response. I know some who didn't get on with the Ely because they didn't think its bass response was acceptable. It could possibly be a fit/seal issue in some cases as if you don't have a good seal what bass there is will diminish and the signature will lose much of its life. Still, I know there is a "bass threshold" that some people are not willing to go across. I've had people tell me since literally the day I got it originally that the bass on the Solaris was "weak"...yet it was fine for me. In fact, it was a huge personal highlight of the signature and where I first started to realize that there was a whole world out there beyond the bass . People similarly told/tell me repeatedly the bass on the Andromeda is "weak sauce"...however, again, I am totally fine with it. I've come to learn that big/heavy/dominant bass is not something I need/demand as much as many people do. The Elysium has shown me that there is much to be gained in terms of emotional connection by the bass being reduced to a support role so your ears/heart/mind can focus more completely on the midrange-- which, as I am coming to see more clearly each minute I'm with the Elysium, contains the emotional core of much of what we listen to. Still, like anything else, it won't be everyone's thing.
