A higher OI impedance (OI will be the same as the impedance of the adapter) results in less bass presence on the Ara. You will be best to pair it with a 1-ohm or sub-1-ohm source. Consider also putting some cloth/swab over the nozzle and you can tone down the high-end by a few dB giving the impression of greater bass.
Yea, I've tried something like that on the Letshuoer S12 which is known to be bright. It does tame it a little. The material I used was the old school earphone|earbud style foams. I place it on top of the nozzle and jam the tip over it. It will help with ear wax issues too.

There's also these tuning foams in Aliexpress that I haven't tried.

Do any of you know how it compares to Empire Ears Katana and K10, Etymotic ER4S, Empire Ears Zeus XR and R. What other iems are comparable in sound signature, tonality, timbre?
