I use the Sony SCD-1 for SACD playback and as a transport into the Audio Aero via the Siltech digital cable for redbook. In almost every case the redbook outshines the sacd(which is also very good). I keep both plugged into an Audio Magic Stealth mini digital power purifier, using Lat International AC2 power cords on everything.

Ah! Salt Peanuts' 963sa -> Apogee Mini-Dac is almost exactly the kind of rig I was looking at getting. Ah! Now I really want to actually get it. Just...looks...so..PRETTY.

Nope, I'm with you on this one all the way. The sony looks beautiful in person. I saw them at J&R refurb store collecting dust 6 months ago. The SCD1 has a tank-like presence, 1st class fit and finish, gorgeous material, etc.

Good, I can only spot 2 more in this pic. They're pretty hard to see though.

The pictures of them just dont do them justice. The beautiful blue/green sides set them off!

I saw one at Harvey's in New York when it first came out, when I had never heard of SACD. They were asking a pretty penny for it. If I remember correctly, the top loader has a little weight disc that goes on the CD, right? Built like a Hummer.

Tom H...I've been looking into buying a Siltech IC...how do you like yours?

I only have the Golden ridge digital cable. It is VERY NICE. So smooth, and refined, while offering lots of detail and dynamics at the same time. I got to compare it to the Kimber D60, Creative cable green hornet, and Creative cable Silver bullet. It edged out the Silver bullit by a slight margin, but could live with either. They are very much alike. The bad part is the price. $650.00 for one used cable hurts.
Yes the SCD-1 uses a brass puck about as big around as a silver dollar and around 3/4 of an inch high. If I loose it I'm screwed.

The Shanling T200 uses a similar puck. Doesn't work well in front loaders, though.

Mr. Radar, you really ought to get your turntable off your receiver.
