I was recently playing "Iron Man" from Black Sabbath and my 13 year old daughter started singing the words. This is a person who three years ago loved the Backstreet Boys, and thought "Wish You Were Here" was a postcard.
I asked her about it, after all she's been exposed to her dad's great tastes her whole life. She told me, all her friends in Jr. High, were listening to the Monkees and Nirvana and Sabbath, and all of '70's 80's rock, because they were sick of what was being offered, on the radio or MTV.
It was a shinning moment in my proud fathers' life. When I showed her my new headphone amp, she ran into my room and got a Diana Krall CD, and a Keiko Matsui Cd for demo purposes. As a dinosaur, it brought a happy tear to my eye.
