Until Customs builders perfect and market a Dynamic/Balanced Armature hybrid. I think the Freq's, Livewires, and Alien ears/HY, are going to remain pretty compatible in this price range and other than a few tweeks with crossovers, I don't think things will change much. Who knows, Maybe your Freq's will become a novelty. At least you can still get them serviced at Fisher Labs.

I'm leaning towards the UE-11's. At the known risk of sounding superficial, I like the idea of knowing I have high-end. Although, any custom IEM would be high-end.

Gah. So many choices. Anyone know details on how much UE charges for custom art? I know I read somewhere that it varies by design (size, complexity, etc), but can anyone confirm this? I'm thinking *total* cost of the 11's would be in the 1300 range after all is said and done.

Before you decide to get the UE-11's, you may want to check the following, which was posted only yesterday:

Custom molded UE SF5eb. Note that these are not mine, I'm considering getting some made. The company sent me this pic to show what the finished product looks like, and I found it so cool I had to post it here. Custom molded dynamic/BA hybrid!
