Buying in Ireland

Try Peats Electronics on Parnell Street. I bought a vinyl system there on Saturday. They're really helpful in there. I'm not sure if it's just Sennheiser they stock, but it's worth a look. Also try Music Maker. It's a guitar/drums etc. shop. Upstairs they have alot of headphones and again the guys in there are really helpful. Its just off Graftons Street, down a bit from Tower records. If you're buying online Thomann.de is very good on price and has a really good selection aswel.

Hope this helps.

PaulieB - I would not buy in Ireland full stop - most of the retail outlets are far too expensive.

But Tower Records have most of the Sennheiser lineup and a listening station and Bogmonster's recommendations of Peat's and Music Maker are good, however I would just go to these places to have a listen if I were you.

If you can bring along your dap/amp setup and try these out with a high res rip to see what suits you best, then buy them online.

Thomann.de are very good and have some great headphones in stock atm, I just bought a pair of DT770 Pro LE's (http://www.headfonia.com/the-beyerdynamic-we-love-dt770-anniversary-edition/), they shipped them very quickly and so far I'm delighted with them.

They also stock the HD-25 II (http://www.thomann.de/ie/sennheiser_hd25_ii.htm) and it's €200 - as opposed to the €290-300 you will see them on the shelf in Dublin for.

Best of luck and happy hunting!

Not sure about auditioning cans from a local and then buying on-line.  Doesn't feel right.

Whilst it may not feel right most shops here do a $ to € equivalency so we end up paying a lot more for cans.

A pair of $200 HD-25 II will cost us in the range of $250-$261 online, and in shops up to $377 - so as far as I'm concerned until they get real they won't be getting my custom.

Oddly enough the Dixons in Dublin Airport Terminal 2 has a fantastic selection of headphones to audition , sennheiser momentums and other high end senns, your typical selection of beats & bose, and the Denon AH-D600 out on display, with AH-D7100's boxed behind glass , there were a few more cans that had merit but i have forgotten now .

Essentially if you want to buy from Ireland your choices are http://www.thomann.de/ie/ or buying direct from one of the bigger global sellers like Moon Audio etc

Hey PaulieB -

How are you finding the AKG 550s, I bought the DT770 Pro LE but was almost going to buy the 550s.

The only reason I didn't was due to Mike & Lieven's review of the 770LE on headfonia

If you are ever around town some lunchtime I would love to give them a try.

Hey guys

Anywhere to buys Amps in this great country of ours?

I have bought my headphones in the US or on the Net. The Amp selection on Thomann is pretty poor.

Do we have enough people for a meet, ive just been to the New York meet and it was great?
