Wouldn't mind spotify jumping on the AK series either tbh.

Have yet to figure out how to use my AK100ii as a DAC for my Windows laptop yet, and honestly, have not read up on it either. Tried plugging it in when I first got it but no sound appears to be coming out of it.

1) Plug it in
2) On the AK, drag down from the top to reveal the quick settings menu:

3) Hit that DAC button. Your AK is now a USB DAC and Windows should detect it automagically.
4) You might have to change your output device in Windows. Right click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen, select "Playback devices". Set the AK as default.

Is this one of the official Buttero cases?  Could you ask your friend where he got it in Japan?  I`ve been searching for a case for my 120ii here, and all I`ve found are the (very nice) Buttero cases and the (hideous) plastic cases I posted a few pages back.   This one you have is really nice - maybe it is one of the Buttero cases in some color I haven`t seen ?

Yes its leather Official Buttero - I will speak to my friend later today and PM you

Hi All,

I've got the AK120 but unfortunately it doesn't play nice with USB3.0 which is what I have on a late 2013 MacBook. I was wondering whether the AK120 II works on USB3.0 devices as a DAC?

Thanks
James

Only the older AK models don't work with USB 3.0, the new revisions are perfectly compatible.

I'm using my AK120 II via USB 3.0 as I type this

Thanks heaps! I think I was a little confused when I first tried it myself as I thought the drop down menu already had DAC selected, didn't think to even click on it, silly me

For those running earphones directly from the AK, what is your volume typically set to? I know much depends on your phones, but I'm finding myself at 50ish, which seems high to me.

Ok, I am confused. I thought that USB 3.0 is backwards comparable so that even if your devices, the AK100, is usb 2, it will work out of a USB 3 socket.? Mine does but I must be misunderstanding something here.

My volume floats around 45-50 for my FAD Pandora Hope VI - 8 ohm during noisy metro ride and around 38ish for silent background

Around 4-50 for Monoprice 8320 - 32ohm IEMs

32.5 to 35, anything over half way is way too high for anything low impedance.

Well to be fair, we will have to know how the music was mastered.  If most of what you listen are classical mastered in low volume, then 40-50 maybe necessary.

One of two USB ports on my 2013 MBP works better than the other. It could also be the cable. My AK's USB cable doesn't work well most of the time.
