I am having an odd issue inserting the micro SD card. It is not catching when I push it in. Anyone else with experiences physically installing the card?
I have an AK120 with the dual SD card slot and the cards also don't latch/lock in place. I was always curious about this, but it hasn't been a problem as the cards' tension against the sliding cover keeps it closed.
Thanks for the reply. I figured out that I was not getting it all the way in. Seems fine now. Have played a few files off of it with no problem. Just working my way through my hi-res files figuring out which ones make it to the ak100ii. Really impressed with this device.
I did not have any issue inserting the card but you have use something pointy in order to push it inside. Congrats Mike and yes...these guys here at B&H do not know too much about this....
I was really surprised. They sent me to several departments and ended up in pro audio. They guy was really helpful, but conceded he knew nothing about the AKs. I told him a little bit about them and he said he would research them tonight to learn more.

I just picked up the ak100ii at B&H. The 799 price seems to be their normal price. The staff in the store seemed to know nothing about these. I fired it up right away and sounds fantastic with the pre-loaded music. I am having an odd issue inserting the micro SD card. It is not catching when I push it in. Thanks for all the feedback. Hopefully others that read the thread can learn from this. You really have to push the micro SD into the device and may need another card or the dummy they put in the slot to push it in far enough.
I read somewhere on this forum that Vinnie said that the sound out of the rwak120 II = rwak240 in pcm playback is that right or was it a speed reading error.
Indeed. I had the same issue straight away. I used the dummy MicroSD-card that came with the set to push my real MicroSD-card in. With your fingernail, you can't push it deep enough to click in to place. I think it's not bad, because the MicroSD-card won't accidentally eject this way.
I dont have the stock AK100II, I have the Red Wine modified AK100II - but for me the AK120II is very close to in terms of signature to the AK240 (mine is also Red mine modded).
For me both the AK120II and (RW) AK240 are much better than the AK100II all round in terms of sound signature.
The Red wine mods for all the models in my experience adds wider sound stage, deeper warmer signature and overall tighter detail rendering when used with respected IEMs.
But the AK100II design is the best out of all the Astell models IMO - Just waiting for the - Titan AK120II if they choose to make it.

Is the difference btw AK100II and AK240 just subtle? Or big and obvious? There were previous users who have tried and mentioned the differences is very subtle and high level of concentration is needed to distinguish both.
