As much as I hate the R10, I have to admit that the sound quality of the R10 is better than AK100II. The R10 has a 3D-like wide soundstage that never ceased to impress me. The R10 freezes ever hour until it refuses to work. The sound quality is incredible, but pointless if the device doesn't even work or stops working twenty times a day. Having an R10 is like having Nicola Peltz as your girlfriend and only get laid 5 seconds every 4 months. Eventually, you'll give up.

Is it that bad?

The iPhone 5S has better sound than the regular iPhone 5. My iPhone 5S is nowhere near as good as the AK100II. The difference between the iPhone 5 and AK100II is even bigger.

Did not really seriously compare my 240 with the iPhone5s but I've found iPhone is less musical.  If 100ii carries the same SQ signature as 240 and it should be more or less like what you've found.

I am very much satisfied by the sound of my AK100 II but I am very very disappointed with the interface with my mac 
I'm used to Apple devices that do not lock ever and are very easy to use, this new DAP three times out of six is not read by my mac, even if I'm using the special application of android, the texts of the songs appear very badly written and not in order, selecting between the memory and the memory card AK100 (an expensive Sandisk 64 GB to 100 dollati) I have to reconnect ... so I knew that the OSX operating systems other than feel sorry for them but I was expecting something Astell & Kern more.
